Going in finally Friday July 27th. Is their any break-in time for them? Hopefully not so I can hit the local drag's Test & Tune that night and get the feel of it and not be running blind at MMV's drag day.

I "broke" mine in in our alley :D

You MAY need a tune adjustment. I did.

Install it, then floor it.

That's all I needed to hear lol. I got a nice 35-40 mile trip back to home from the transmission shop and it's all back roads so I'll be able to see what it can.

Now would be a good time to drain the pan and install a new filter as well.
That way all the fluid will be new!

One thing to look out for is the bouncing tach once you get off the throttle at speed and allow the engine to idle. You might see the tach needle bounce up and down and hear your engining reving and slowing due to the looser TQ.

This is the first Im hearing of this. The only side effect that I have from the TC is a shudder at idle when Im either in Park or neutral.
It goes away when I put it in any gear.

I was told this is normal

After my PI 3500 was installed I have no bouncing tach, no shudder, no anything other that what I had felt in the SOP before.

Of course the performace was greatly improved at the low end, I still swear up and down my gas mileage improved on the highway.

I agree that a re-tune is probably in order to take advantage of the new hardware. I'll ask DR to drive it at MV-V so he can advise me.

That's after I beat him to the finish line in the power adder class.

I already asked DR about it needing a re-tune and he said I shouldn't need one and just to drive it and see how it is. If I don't like how it's driving then give him a call and go from there.

Also ordered my helmet today since the torque converter is going to put me into the 13's.

I havent been to a track and its looking like MV-V will be my first attempt at seeing what this car can do. Judgeing from my past drag races, Im assuming I can pull a high 13 second time slip as well.

Yes you should be in the 13's with 293 RWHP.
(I wish I had a dyno tune)

I dont know...might just be mines...but the thing is this, if I lift off the peddle at about 60 and as my car slows, my engine revs and drops between 1500 - 2200 rpm until I get below 50.

Why a 3500 stall instead of something closer to maybe a 3000? Wouldn't you lose a little drivability with the higher stall?

I've had no surging, shuddering, or anything else after my PI was installed.

Not just you William, Mine does that too...I have a more erratic tach needle and a "sloppier" idle after my TC install.

I was going to go with a 3000 stall but Dennis Reinhart had one 3500 stall left for $700.00 with free shipping, I just couldn't pass that up lol and he wanted to get rid of it so we helped each other out.

Bouncing Tach - I mis-understood, I'm thinking a needle that's making wild fluctuations. So I must amend my previous statement to - "Can't say I notice my tach when I change speeds, I usually look at it at steady driving speeds or at WOT for over-revving".

Why a 3000 vs 3500 T/C. This has been discussed and is the subject of various articles offered on the home pages of the T/C manufacturers.

I configured my car's mods to fit into a set budget (read small) for quicker acceleration.

I rarely drive more than 70 MPH but I wanted to get there quickly.

Thus, the P.I. 3500 which is more suitable for an engine whose torque curve at the 80% point is around 4K RPM served my purpose better than the 3000.

I drive around just like a normal person with no marked affects except when I take off, then I'm at the front of the pack, no if's, and's or but's.

Just double check the fluid level after it gets good and warm. Everything else will be fine.

Good to see I am not alone. I "cleaned" up my idle by having it bumped to 1K all the time. This has also kept me from stalling out in a slow hard turn. It did that alot after the UD pullies were installed. Since the idle adjustment....no more stalling.

What was your idle set at before you bumped it up? I have my in-drive idle set at 850 RPM's and my park idle at 1000. I never had a stalling issue even with my U/D pullies.

I'm having a real good local transmission shop do the work that my family has used even before I was born lol and I already told them I have a deep tranny pan which they will have to add more than factory capacity.
