can't decide which rear gear to go with any facts or suggestions
THANKS JEFF
will the 4:10 gear allow the rear tires to smoke off by just standing on the throttle from a dead stop or would i have better luck with the 4:30's

I always refer people to this (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10619&highlight=steve+babcock+4.10)t hread. Many of our supporting vendors carry tunes for 3.55's and 4.10's. And if the project mgr of the MM wished they had 4.10's in the car, I'd say that's plenty fast and plenty reasonable to step up to, IMHO.
There's a little more of observations in this (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=22042&highlight=steve+babcock+4.10)t hread, 2nd page, by GREEKGOD

Depends on what you want...
Do you want to be able to throw an easy aftermarket tune in the car? Then you will need 4.10s.
Or, you could ask your vendor if they can change the tune for 4.30s, they may be willing to do that...
If your desire is to get the quickest possible ET in the 1/4 mi, the way you do that is by determining at what RPM your motor makes peak HP, then work backwards to determine which gear ratio gives you that RPM at the end of the quarter mile in third gear. You will need to know how fast your car is going in the 1/4, to start with. If it's stock, you could guess 93 MPH
Then use the number of tire RPM per mile, and work backwards with a 1:1 third gear ratio to arrive at the proper rear gear ratio. That is the theoretical best gear for quarter mile performance.

Most people will upgrade to the 4.10's. Some have gone with the 4.30's and are not happy with them for everyday driving.

Others (me) have gone all the way to 4.56 gears and love them for everyday driving. :D :burnout:

You will not be able to spin the tires with 4:10's...you will need more like a tune and other add-ons. 4:30's will get you closer...but will change the driving experience, as well as MPG's...Personal preference my friend...Like the guys say...Depends on what you want...ALOHA

You can leave your 3.55 in and go with 3500 stall TC and you will be able to smoke the tires from dead punch.
