TCI carries an aluminum trans pan that holds an additional 4 quarts of tranny fluid , just ordered 259.00$ it also has a drain plug and a tapped hole for a trans temp gauge

DR carries an Art Carr one with that, and an FRPP one but I don't believe it has the hole for the tranny temp. The Art Carr one is a lot cheaper too.

The Art Carr pan is just as nice as the TCI one for less money. If you choose to install a temp sender you can always drill & tap hole. I'm mounting my sending unit in a manifold that Autometer sells that mounts in the trans cooler line.

I don't recall at the moment which trans pan I have, but be aware that it may be lower than the frame as mine is. This is particularly important when going over speed bumps.

Forget the tap and get an Aeroforce gauge that gets trans temp from OBD.

Eh.....
PERSONALLY, I would rather have a real time, external sensor that monitors the Temp.

The TFT sender (OBD-II) is located inside the pump body, IIRC.

Are you sure it holds and ADDITIONAL 4 quarts, or 4 quarts total ?
The stock pan holds 4 quarts and the cooling pans usually hold 6 quarts.
So that would be 2 additional quarts.
If you are using the TCI pan, make sure you get the corresponding filter for it.
Most of the 6 quart pans call for the 4X4 trans filter instead of the stock filter.
This places the filter LOWER into the pan.
If you run low on oil, you won't run dry...

I was thinking of the B&M pan. I have one on all my trucks, I was/am a little concerned about the depth issue, which pan is the thinnest?
a stock depth alloy pan with fins and a drain would be ok with me, a little additional depth is good, but I'm concerned about the hitting and below the frame issues.

Ask a vendor who sells a variety, such as Dennis Reinhart.
They may know the answer.

TCI makes several pans. Their new premium series has provisions for trans temp guages and a few other nice features. I think they also make some very deep sump pans as well, some are +7.5qts.
438000 holds 2 extra quarts
438010 is for AODE/4R70W only & holds 1.5 extra quarts
438015 is for AODE/4R70W only & holds 2.5 extra quarts

And what's wrong with that?! ;)
