Consider yourself warned. A good mechanic might charge the price of a good used Marauder to do the swap.
I cannot believe that it will cost $12-18k, as the going price of a MM, to do this.

Its amazing how the wheels change the whole character of a GM

I'd like to see front and rear pictures of car so I can see how the wheels fit. Side shot it looks great, but I'd like to see how the offset works. Or did you use spacers ?

Here (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2097941) are the other pics.
I had posted which spacers that I had used here when I did the swap. I can read the info of the original box if someone needs the info.

Thanks, I got the spacers and wheels from gdmjoe here on this site back in 2005. I get a lot of stares and some ask if it is a MM. The ride is definately better. The old lacy rims were demoted to winter tire duty.

I received kudos for this mod back in 2005. I feel like I'm double dipping in the praises!
The details: H&R Springs spacers (http://www.hrsprings.com/site/index.html) , under "applications" search for a 2000 Mustang. There you will see in the listing a "DRM" type part number 05065705. BTW, a "kit" is for a pair of spacers.
I did have to shorten my existing wheel studs as the Marauder rims do not have recess on the mounting flange. I had to cut the unthreaded portion of the studs off. Keeping the lengths even as possible as not cause an imbalance. You could just have the studs replaced, but I didn't know that at that time.
I purchased the spacers and wheels from a member here named gdmjoe, good guy to deal with.

BTW ... Thank You ! for the kind words.
BTW-II ... You may want to get in contact with John Kuhl ( of John's Stereo ); is a hot rodder who has built his 1992 Marquis with a 2004 DOHC 4.6.

Thanks Joe for the contact info.
dont know if it helps any but ive taken 03 and up 4.6 PI motors and put them in the earlier chassis, and the only thing that was different was the oil pan, and the differance is so minute i didn't even notice till it wouldn't sit all the way down in the mounts. but the pan was a direct swap. ive done it a couple times now both ways , older motor newer car and newer motor older car, until you get into the electronic throttle, and even then the intake is a direct swap, i know the cop cars dont have the 32 valve motor but it shows that the chassis change in 03 isnt really a major issue

I think the car looks great, but wheel spacers scare me. I drive the car hard, and I'd always be wondering if they will let go. From what I remember with NHRA tech is that spacers are not allowed, and that's going straight!
I still love the look :)

PSG--Thanks for the info. I hope that it will be that simple.
larryo340--I can certainly understand your concern. I once hit a boulder protruding at the road edge while going about 40mph. It was either hit the rock or the idiot hogging the road head on. Anyway, it was quite the hit. Killed the tire by breaking the radial cords. Knocked my alignment off, but no visible wheel or spacer damage. I'm convinced that if you get a good product, you don't need to worry so much. I also drive in a spirited fashion;) , I've had no problems in the past two years.

Good luck.
I think you should look into buying a Marauder.

I have already looked at the cost of purchasing a MM, the car I would have loved to own since I first read about it back in 2002. At that time, it was going for $5,000 more than what the press releases stated, too rich for my budget. I was also in a desperate need of a car. So I got the best that I could afford at the time.
Fast forward to today: Last car payment just went through. I wanted to buy a MM, passing my current car to my wife. She does not want such a big car to drive and does not want to go back into car payments yet.
So, what is a guy to do? How about one of the oldest tricks in the book, modify the existing car?! So that is where I'm at.

I want to find an ultimate LSE Marquis with floor shift, and drop an aluminum block 460 in it possibly a modified port injected intake from a truck, or even a carb or pro-jector. dont know if an AOD etc will tolerate a 460, or a C-6 with an added overdrive unit.
probably 10 years out, but I'm thinking about it... looking at my 95 town car thinking the same thing...

Sounds interesting. Show us pics if you start this project.

Dennis has S/C several GM w/ impressive results.

That is an interesting idea, but why would I want to limit myself?
You know, "hot rodding" doesn't just come from the factory;)
Emphasis added below
http://www.answers.com/topic/hot-rod:
hot rod also hot-rod (hŏt'rŏd')
n. Slang.
An automobile that has been rebuilt or modified to increase its speed and acceleration.
hotrod hot'-rod' v.
hotrodder hot rodder or hot'-rod'der n.
That's how the MM came into being in the first place.
I like the look of the Marauder a lot, but I do not require it. I have a decent looking car that has the potential to be modded. It has 95k miles on it, so resale value means nothing to me. I will drive it for at least five more years or until it dies.
If I were to purchase a MM, it would cost me $12-18k, and would have a near stock car with payments preventing any mods. If I alter my existing car that is paid for, I get the best of both worlds. I get good aftermarket parts and a DOHC engine that can have a power adder added on later. For less than what a MM would cost me. I can enjoy the benefits earlier.
If I didn't have a car and was looking to buy either the GM, gm lse, cv sport, or MM, then the MM suggestions would obviously make more sense.
Besides the appearance, prestige of unique OEM production, and the rack & pinion steering, what are the real differences? BTW, the steering issue is moot as I highly doubt that I will go into road course racing.
As I have said before, my goal is not to make a "clone" and advertise it as the "real deal" or "just like". I want a "sleeper" that can haul a$$, groceries, my boat when desired and still have some money left over at the end of the day. It just so happens that the MM parts are better than what I have and somewhat fit my car.

Sailsman--
After reading my last post again, I came to realise that it comes across as sarcastic and rude. Please forgive my uncivility.
