I ran into a friend tonite who has a red '04 MM w/ 36K.
He is thinking of going w/ a wet 100 shot and 4:10's.
Any suggestions or reccs would be appreciated.
Sir;
I have such a set up and make the following recommendations to your friend.
1. Purchase the "Traction Control" box from ZEX if your using their system.
this allows the RPM to determine when the system fires. Otherwise it's on when you punch WOT. Not the best for traction.
2. A spark retard tune may be necessary to prevent knocking, 2-6 degrees from say a performance tune.
3. Build a metal shelf to support the ZEX distribution computer and the Traction control box, see Pat's photos in the North Texas Marauder section"
4. Use Copper or Iridum spark plugs, one range colder than stock. Platinum plugs may melt.
5. Select placement of Arm switch so that it's not in the way, I used the dummy hole in the drivers door, next to the trunk activation button. Wiring is run through the door harness.
6. I find that putting the bottle on the trunk shelf (drivers side, next to the fuel cut off swith) did not detract from my trunk space. Careful when drilling holes the fuel tank can be punctured. Fit was snug but easy to bolt on from below.
7 NOS gas line can be routed through the frame and not hanging down to be snagged on something passing under the car.
8. System fittings must be leak proof.
9. Cost of gas ranges from $4-5.00 per pound.
10. Gasoline can be plumbed from the Schrader valve on the forward end of the drivers side fuel rail. Looks like a tire valve. Remove and replace with Suitable fitting/adapter. I think an adapter comes with the kit.
11. Select point of gas/fuel nozzle insertion into the intake air stream 12 to 18 inches from the Throttle body.
Be sure and index the nozzel so that it's openings are facing the throttle body. I have a JLT intake so the intake tube was a very good solid piece to mount the nozzel assembly.
12. I use my system on the strip but little on the street, usually when I'm trolling.
13. Be sure to get a kit for a large sedan, not a mustang or other shorter wheelbase car.
There are pictures on Rhineharts Automotive site for a Zex installation. Also Too Many Fords has drawing/outline of the shelf. That's what I used.
PM or call me if you need more details about the ZEX 100 shot wet system.
I'm enjoying mine so much more since I got the traction control box.
