I noticed that sometimes when it's hot out I get in start it up and flip the ac on full blast and set it down to 60 to get it cooled down fast. Then the flow of the air gets interesting. Sometimes it will come out of the vents like it should then switch to coming out of the vents in the dash only for about 5 minutes. If I lower the fan and then have it come out at a medium rate it will start to come out the regular vents but then switches back to coming out of the vents on the dash.
Is this because having the air come out of the vents in the dash will start to get the car to cool down the quickest?

Funny you should ask. Read my writeup on repairing the EATC module here (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36922)

You shouldn't put a/c on 60 degrees right away when getting into hot car as it closes outside air and keeps it recirculating. In other words you are trying to cool the 120+ degrees in the car instead of pushing it outside. If you keep it on 65 you will push out the hottest air, and get you cooler fast. I leave mine no lower than 65 degrees (I use remote start) then when I get into car it is cool enough to put to 60 if needed. Yet another method is to push MAX button which puts system in manual recirc mode (overrides AUTO), again only after inside cools down some.

Mine did that, too. Replaced my control head in the dashboard. Thank God for ESP...it is an expensive puppy.
