On the 4th I did a complete detail job in the afternoon so my ride would be gleaming for all to see. Everything was perfect. With barely 850 miles on my poor baby, I parked between two cars at the local conveience store. I ran into the shop to get some ice for our 4th of July Keg... came out and drove directly back to my house and parked the MM.

The next morning, I drove it to the L/M dealer to get that temp. sender installed. When I got out of the car and walked to the service door, the sun hit the right rear quarter JUST RIGHT. A DING!!!! AAGGGHHHHH!!!!!! Someone at the convenience store must've swung their door open a bit too much. DAMMIT!!!!

It's not too big, maybe about 1" x 1/2". No paint damage. I am thinking of calling on of those "paintless dent repair" companies. Has anyone had any experience with these types of fixes? I want it taken care of ASAP. It's bothering me to no end... my eyes are oddly drawn to that little ding every time I look at my MM.

Constable the people where my wife worked beat the crap out of the side of her mustang when they got out of their cars. I used a dentless repair shop recommended by a body shop. I paid $300 bucks but they got all the dents out of both sides of the car. I was very impressed and pleased with the results.

I use an independant "dent buster" all the time for my off lease returns. The end results are great. Its too bad this process was not perfected years ago.
Give it a try. A typical "door ding" runs anywhere from $35-$50.
Good luck.

Hey Ryan, someone mentioned Dry Ice on the CVN boards awhile back.... apparently you leave the car in the sun for a while, put some dry ice on the dent and it pops right back out... I might not have all the details to this "fix" story but I'm sure you can find it on CVN.... or take it to one of the shops, if its on the rear door there is plenty of access from the inside to get to the dent assuming its not under one of the beams.

Good luck bro, and next time you see someone swing their door open into someone else's car, shoot them! LOL... just kidding... my whole right side is messed up on the 99POS inherited from PA state police, I hate door dings!

I dunno about the dry ice fix... all I can picture is the Monster Garage episode where they tried fixing the PT Cruiser's roof!! What a mess!!. I'd rather leave this to a professional than cause further damage. Thanks for the help, though, it's appreciated.

The dry-ice fix is legit. Most use it on hail damage though, and I think it works better on the top portions of the car, as apposed to the sides.

I don't doubt that it works... I've heard stories and fables of the trick myself. I'm just saying that I'M not going to attempt it. My luck, I'll cause more damage and then I'll REALLY be PI$$ED.

I feel your pain. Someone got me in the right rear quarter panel above the wheel well on the 5th....took some paint too though.

I hate when people do that. I alway try to park at the end of the lots at malls or anywhere. So far, the only ding I have if from a road rock. Its about 1/4" by 1/2". 90% of the peole I point it out to can't see it but I do!!!! :D

Try County Line Auto Body Ryan. They are pretty good people over there and they do very good work. Had the rear quarter painted there 2 weeks after I bought mine. Had a scratch 14 inches long across the back. Can not tell at all it was repainted (the quarter).

Yea, I heard they do good work... actually I know they do! They're the ones who rebuilt my totalled CVPI after my crash on 12-25-02. The car was mangled at every corner. Now, it's better than new. No squeaks, rattles, or anything. I'll swing down there and see what they say. Thanks Rob.
