hello everybody : I am having a problem with my front end , the tires started wearing on the very inside edge of both front tires . i took the car in and had the front end aligned , at a ford dealer , it didnt help . the tires have contuined to wear only on the inside edge , i have ordered new tires and made a appointment for another alignment , at the dealership that i bought the car from . the front end has a shaking up to 40 mph then smooths out , but i think that is a tire problem , they are the orignal tires and have 36,000 miles on them . has anybody had this type of problem with there MM

I don't think you can expect more then 36K miles.
To reduce plowing the Factory sets it that way. I have the KDW2 and do a dismount/swap/rotation.
Do a search for carfixers alignment specs, he goes to the max range on the fac specs to improve wear.

^^+1^^ Search for carfixer's alignment specs, copy it ...and take it down to your alignment shop for them to follow...Factory specs are crap...Changed mine to carfixer's specs and NO problems at all...ALOHA

Back from The Persian Gulf? Welcome home! Remember meeting Deadvic and Me for dinner in Houston before you left?
AS far as front tires, I swap mine side to side every 5K miles, which helps reduce the nibbling of the insides, but not too much. You need to use Claude's Alignment specs, our cars came with too much negative camber from the factory. Claudes specs, which Zero Out the Camber will greatly improve the tire life, but since your tires are already nibbled on the inside edges, the profile probably already has "rounded off" on the "shoulder" of the tire, and will have to be replaced when worn down (sooner than later at this point).
Make sure your dealer has the CORRECT adapters for the wheels and he doesnt damage your rims!
Good luck.

hey wes and deadvic : yes i remember you guys and i did enjoy meeting and going to the dyno pull , also i used the ticket that you guys gave me ,to go to the drag races in bay city , it was great .
i am currently moving out of juneau to a town (wasilla ) which is about 35 minutes outside of anchorage ( still in alaska of course ) if you are any other members make this far north let me know and i will try to be as good host as wes and vic were.
i got the specs off of carfixers site and will have mech align the front end to them. hopefull the will have the right equipment for my car , i have the only MM in town . i purchased the car from them so they know me very well , thanks for all the great info

Hi ScreaminDenis
Tires on Marauders are a very picky item
I actually drive my car on a daily basis, There are lots that don't .
I have found that high pressure, not too high will extend the life of the tires....Stock tires at about 40lbs
or a nice set of rock hard Nittos these must be pumped up to 42-44 lbs
(Don't expect much traction from the nittos)
I have seen good alignments and mostly crummy ones,
my car burns the inside, but toed properly the tires will wear much longer.
The alignment specs will make it a pain in the butt for the tech, even if they are your friends....they may try to toe it in and blow you out
At 36K either it was driven real easy, or that is the second or third set of tires on there, in Fla the fronts lasted 16K

hi greggash : i dont drive my car hard ,once in a while i get on it . i just enjoy driving it . my rear tires were toast at 32,000 miles (worn out in the center) and now the fronts are shot , the front end has a shimmy ,but smooths out at 40 mph . but those front tires are shot ,the inside edge is lumpy and worn badly
my new tires are here finally and will be put on next week , then the alignment , the best part of this is that costco screwed up on the pricing and quoted me $110.00 for each front tire mounted and balanced . when we ordered the tires we didnt know there was a problem with the pricing , somebody put them on sale and they werent supposed to be . at the time i ordered two extra tires for the front at that price you cant go wrong . well costco honored the price of $ 100.00 a piece ,whick made me very happy

I paid $65 each brand new for my BFG KDWs fronts, you can find them on sale online a lot. The rears never seem to be on sale though...

It's going to be up to you to educate your dealership about Marauders! :) Use us as a resource and you'll do fine. I had to replace all four tires at about 23000 miles. Rears were bald in center, front were badly wotn on inside and outside edges but still had good tread in the middle. I went with the KDW2s 9since I don't have to deal with snow) and they are wearing better than the OEMs did. I am running them at 40 psi, which seems to be a good compromise between tread wear, handling and ride comfort.

I can't get 36k on my spare........it wears out just riding around in the trunk. If I got 36K on any tire, I'd be happy.
