I just joined the 14 second club. Yeehaw!!!

14.84 @ 96.5 MPH (corrected).

These gears were the BEST mod I have done yet. WOW, THEY REALLY WAKE THE CAR UP. It's SO MUCH MORE FUN TO DRIVE. You don't have to down shift to pass on the highway anymore, it just moves out! No more annoying downshifts that rev the snot out of your engine (and alarm your passengers) when you want to ease by someone, but you need to do it today.

They are totally fine on the high way. Regular cruising speed of 80-90 is 2700-3000 RPM. It's kind of cool, because when you let off the throttle, you can now feel the car compression brake just a little

To be fair, the car did have an oil change from conventional with 3000 miles on it to new SYNTHETIC, an alignment that changed the tow-out of .25" to a toe-in of .10" (less drag), and SYNTHETIC rear end lube now (Amsoil). So, the entire .25 second improvement may NOT be all attributable to the gears...

The weirdest thing is that the gears didn't improve my 60ft times ONE IOTA. Still the same 2.64 seconds I got when the car was bone stock. Each mod I do I had to lower my launch RPM to get the same 2.64 60' time.

Trouble is, with the gears, I have to leave the hole at idle, and still annihilate the tires! That makes for inconsistent times, so I leave at 900, and try not to roll it on quickly, rather than just dropping the hammer like I used to be able to.:D

I LOVE DRIVING THIS CAR NOW. It's unbelievably fun...

The swap cost me $350 in labor, including axle bearing job and rebuild traction lock, so it wasn't too bad. Too bad he dropped my 3.55s and chipped one of the gears. I could have sold it on eBay for $45-$50. Not anymore...

At this point my car is seriously traction limited. I think this will be tough (read: expensive) to remedy.

Now I want to add underdrives, delete cats, delete EGR, change original spark plugs and wires (I bet they were never changed, I bought the car with 100K) jerry mod transmission and go to synthetic.

Who knows? Maybe I just may get to 14.50 ;)

I should add the history of my car's performance:

15.45 bone stock
15.33 K&N FIPK (-.12)
15.09 Lidio tune (-.24)
14.84 4.10 gears* (-.25)

*including new alignment, and synthetic oil in motor and diff.

During the course of the mods, the car has picked up about +2 MPH.

All times corrected for temp. humid. pressure. and altitude!

Go here to do the same: http://www.modulardepot.com/density.php

Happy modifying!!!

I got to 14.5 with underdrives, colder plugs, colder thermostat, 4.10's, JLT and a DR tune. Hope to get into the 13's at Hagerstown. I've added a PI torque converter, Mustang shorty headers, 2 hi-flow cats and Magnaflow mufflers, all connected by 2.5" mandrel bent SS pipe.

That-a-boy, fastblack! You go get 'em!!!

I need to start talking to folks about spark plugs. I don't know what the hot setup is on these cars...

The exhaust system sounds sweet. I hope this summer to go sans cats and EGR, and pick up some power their - but I can't do headers and the whole shibang, as you - not this summer. I'm po now, man!

I was just going to say, your next mod should be exhaust. I haven't been to the track yet since I got my DR Cobra exhaust, 3000 T/C and my 4.10's are next. I am eager to see what I will run.

Lets see how you hang with a Marauder will all those mods plus intake spacer, EMP waterpump, PHP intake, and a tune from PSP.
Your exhaust work may help you pull up high if I dont get you out of the hole.

You will run FAST. The TC is a sweet mod.

Hey Spider,

I WOULD LOVE A PI TC! I can't do it right now, after labor, it's going to be like $1200. That doesn't even include the other things I know I would HAVE to do (read compelled by an inner demon), like the j-mod, cooler, and possibly some internal mods (I hear there is a rear bearing lube kit, but don't know much about it yet).

I hear these TCs are worth like 1/2 second, which is HUGE - the same as the tune AND gears. So, next summer bro, next summer...
