Driving home yesterday under partial boost the transmission seemed to shift early from 3-2 with approx 5 psi boost. As she shifted 2-3 I heard a ka-thung sound. Put OD back in a few seconds later and didn't notice anything different.
At first traffic light after highway went to accelerate and could tell immediately that something was different. The car seems to rev higher and has less torque.
Limped home making sure to be easy on the tranny.
In park there is a whining sound definitely from the tranny area. Sounds like pump cavitation.
Went to try to check the level. Very cramped trying to get that dipstick out. Not sure I did it right.
Level appears to be okay. Color medium red not cherry red but not burnt red. Smells of warm hydraulic fluid.
I had been noticing that a slow speeds the shifts were thunking more. I've been paying more attention to it because of my other clunking issue I had with the parking brake and control arms. The 1-2 shifts definitely were louder with a solenoid thunk sound.
Car is sitting in street until I can get a number for a good tranny shop. Car is just out of warranty (figures) and with the blower I don't want to necessarily go to FORD with it if it turns out to require a rebuild.
Anyone have a good number for a tranny shp that could rebuild her to better specs if that is required?

In the shop now. Mechanical failure. Car would actually move forward in Neutral, no reverse and definitely hurting in D, 2 and 1.
Tear down to follow.

OD band failure. Wonder if they were slipping before? Notice now that at 75mph I'm only turning approx 2300 rpm. RPMs definitely seem lower then before. 3.55 gears. I had them beef up the OD band a bit. Feel it when OD kicks in on the highway. Pictures to follow.

Methinks me is glad that me paid for me ESP plan.

I know Uncle Buck has VERY low mileage on his MM compared to mine. Scary.

Methinks my power adder would have voided anything the ESP would cover....unless the ESP is mod friendly.
