They made one prototype MM convertible concept car. Understand that the top was not functional ... it was just chopped for the photo. I believe that early discussions here said it had an "experimental" VIN and therefore could not be registered. Therefore, it was really not street legal.

There are a few companies in the east coast that will chop the top and warranty it. I saw tons of 300cs like that out there.

Wonder how much it would cost to make one just like that.

Probably way over 100k though...

where is this car now? It looks like the shot was at a small L/M dealership.

There's a dealer in the next town that has a 4 door SRT-8 300C that's a convertible, they claim it's the only 4 door 'vert in the world. They want $80k for it. Personally though, I don't like the MM in a convertible form.

the car was auctioned off last august by ford motor co. but was sold as a non titleable vehicle , and suposedly all procedes went to charity. but if you have a dealer plate , you could drive it all you want. there was an artical in the mercury club news letter, (quicksilver ) a while back about it, if i remember correct it has a supercharged 5.4

<HR align=left width=600 color=#c8c8c8>I saw this vehicle up close and personal in the winter of 2005.

It has no top or windows (remember it was a concept car).

Yes, I even sat in it and had several pictures taken.

It was bought at the auction in Atlantic City, NJ by Pete Watson, the owner of Old Forge Lincoln-Mercury in Lansdale, PA.

Forgot to add, I read somewhere that it was recently sold by Pete Watson. Don't know anymore than that.

WTF, why would that car have a 5.4 with a blower on it and they couldn't give it to ours? So I guess the chop top wasn't the only thing done to it. Zack, I guess that dealer is lying then lol.

I'd totally want that as a coupe or fastback, if they could do it right.

Only 4 door 'vert in the world? Hardly. Certainly not the only 4 door 'vert ever made

If only we had some pull, to get this damn thing produced...Hey, wait, don't most model companies make prototype cars more than actual production vehicles....maybe we could go that route with it...have them make a model of the convert....then they would have an easier time making the actual production marauder.....Just a Thought.

Looks weird in a 2-door, but makes me wonder what happens to all the cool concept cars. Like the Crown Vic Blackhawk...

This car is the BOMB..If ford would have made this D** thing my life would be much different ie i would own one...the idea of a coupe is a winner also

why O' why??????

The owner of this car NEEDS to step forward & let all members oggle the thing. This car should be the center piece of his showroom??? if not

why O' why NOT ?????????
