View Full Version : This is why I hate dealers...

I took my Marauder into a dealer that my dad buys cars from for some minor body shop work that they started doing. My problem was I had the right side of my rear bumper guard pushed in because I clipped a parked car about a year ago while making a right hand turn out of an alley. Another issue was some of my paint was chipped from Chicago love taps.

So I take it in and say to repaint it, push the dent out and detail it. They want a 2 day notice and two days to do it. So I play by the rules and when I get it back the car looks new again except the rear bumper had a fresh scrape and they never even bothered to fix my dent all of which I paid for. Luckly when the car was pulled up I instantly noticed the lack of work and new scrape and pointed it out before the porter could even get out of the car.

Everyone said they were sorry and said I could leave it. Being young and stupid as I am I said no I want it back and I'll bring it back some other time. Well that some other time was months later and was actually this tuesday. I went in today because they said it would be done. I called, no call back. I called a second time and they said hang on we'll call you right back. Two hours went by so I showed up in my shiny old school Chevy (keep in mind this is a BMW dealer) and everyone knew I was coming because everyone knows that truck. I found the guy I was looking for before I even put the truck in park. He told me not only is it not ready today, but it could be as late as monday because they simply couldn't touch up the paint and take the cheap way out. Now the car is sitting and it's questionable wither I'll get going in time for Marauder Ville because of someone elses b.s. I'll admit it was my fault for waiting till a week before, but I wanted the car looking as good as possible and if they stuck to their word about 2 days notice and 2 days to do it, there wouldn't be an issue..... heck if they did the job right the first time there would be no issue.

Ok I'm done. :mad2:

When this is all done and you get the work that you paid for DO NOT EVER GO THEIR AGAIN FOR ANYTHING. If you do, you are indeed foolish and save us from having to hear how you got burned by them again.

Now, I know it may sound silly but since your father buys cars from them, I would take him in with you and have him speak with someone that he knows there. He should explain that he is very disappointed that his son is being taken advantage of and that it may affect his relationship with them if not corrected.

Ha funny you should mention that because my dad has known the owner for about 30 years and thinks their friendship ended recently. Because of this, it probably explains why my service is even more poor now. Either way the place owes it to me for what they caused and what they didn't finish. The promise to do the work was prior to my dads anger at the owner. I won't go into detail, but if you saved someones business and they call you up one day to say "Get your call off my lot." I could see myself getting real angry myself.

Exactly my thoughts on this.

:argue:You could always send it to a L/M dealer and send them the bill

-exactly. Also, not that you can do anything about it now but I would not have gone back to that place after they didnt do **** in the first place, obviously your business is unimportant to them. What dealer is it by the way? Im in the area remember, this is important to know.

Sorry, but you guys are out of line. They offered to correct the problem when it happened. Thats what should have happened. Now at the last second you show up and want them to drop everything they are doing and take care of you problem? Sound to me like you have stepprd on your d*ck with them and I would'nt hold my breath till I got my car back.

I also think that if your Dad had a falling out with the dealership owner you're SOL.

I followed the rules dude. 2 days notice, 2 days to do it. I actually contacted them on the friday before and they said tuesday morning.... got there at 9:30 am and said thursday night. Still no car for Marauder Ville!

yea... and how does it look?

Looks great.... even the worn rims. The one problem is that one dent still is there, but not as bad. I don't think it can be fixed.

Why would you ever use a dealer for paint, as opposed to a real body shop? ANY dent can be fixed.

I looked into a few body shops before and this place was cheaper.... now I know why.
