As most of you i put up a thread with 3 marauders i found online and blah blah

Well i got to thinking about this one in NJ that me and my dad are going to go look at on saturday, it looks like its in great shape, good price, low miles, but the things that worry me are

Its been in a right side accident (cant even tell)

and for "low miles" why is the floor mat worn out? (Someone PM'd me about that and i noticed)

Carfax said the odomiter wasnt rolled back, and RoyLPita sent me the oasis, the last service was at 22k miles and it was a month or so ago, so it cant be a roll back.

Which leads me to think, was this car abused? Could the wear in the mat be from the driver sliding his foot from gas to brake so much? The carfax said that the accident was at drivers fault, but besides the door panels being replaced, OASIS said only the window motor was replaced. And the drivers one broke to, but not from an accident. I guess just wear?

If this car looks good, and if we test drive it and it drives fine, no doubt we will have our mechanic look it over just like every other used car, but are there any other things i should look for or listen for? I already know to look for wear marks, and i will pop the hood to look at that, check under the car as well, but anything specail i should look/listen to/for?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance

Just go for it man. With miles like that as a certianty, I doubt you would have problems and if it does turn out to be a bad deal I think you can take it back or go after someone for lying. I have no idea because both my car and truck I have had since new. I don't know what happens when you buy used and something bad happens. I'm sure other posts will be helpful.

Honestly.... Ford's are NOTORIOUS for losing window motors and window regulator functionality. I wouldn't consider it a problem in the least. My 01 CV started having windows problems right around a few thousand miles after I had it less than a year. Carpet mat wear? I dunno if this is the case but some people don't rest their foot in the one spot. They put it in one spot for gas, another for brake but then off to the side altogether when not using either. This would increase the level of wear on the mat. If the owner was a big guy who would've put more pressure on it I find it reasonable that it is worn. Look for other signs of hard driving instead. Are the original brakes on it? IF so, how much pad is left. Are the rotors warped? Do the rear tires seem to have much less tread than the front tires(I know MM tires wear in a piss poor manner... so keep that in mind)? Things like this.

Also, with lots of heavy driving the side bolsters in the chairs would probably be worn just as much as the seat bottom. Look at that. If they still feel the proper firmness then I wouldn't put much more thought into it. It's hard to put a serious amount of abuse on a car in just 24K without having other things showing the signs beyond carpet pad wear.

A used car is a used car. you'll never find one perfect. Great thing for us is fleet membership of the general body and frame. Parts are easy to get and cheap. Frames have been racked a million times and straightened out. Mine was. You'd never tell to look at it, drive it or even for tire wear. 17K worth of damage, racked frame and all. Try THAT with a unibody!!!

Just jump. You know we'll help ya with any problems you might end up with. (But I'm betting none.)

^^What he said^^

The spot on the mat may even be a stain that he tried to remove unsuccessfully, or he spent most of his time in traffic. Better a floor mat with a wear mark then the actual rug.
The seats look par with the mileage so Im willing to bet that this is real deal.
The only thing that I would second guess buying this car is the fact that it isnt certified, so you lose out on the extended drivetrain warranty.
Otherwise, it looks like a good deal.

YOu never know buy a worn floor mat, I must like to grind my heel when I drive so I go through floormats to the tune of one set a year. Thats why my OEM cadillac mats are always in the trunk. I also wear shoes out faster than most people. Not really sure why?:dunno:

Generally, you get screwed. "Buyer Beware." Even if you have a good case it can take a lot of time and effort to fix a bad deal.

And yeah wittle them down, it's not worth $19.5k.
