High C;

Be sure when you come up to the starting line your shift lever is in "D" for drag. Then when you take off put the shift lever in "R" for race.

What better way for us to reach our goals of 13 second time slips then a head to head drag race at MV-V?

I have had many trips down the 1/4 with my previous cars but this is the first time with my MM. I have no idea what it will run.

Yeah I had thought about going to the local drag strip tonight and pop its cherry but what better way to do it by racing with fellow marauders and hopefully surprise some also lol.

Hey Blackened 300 if your dyno numbers are right I think you might see 13.6 if the air is right. Mine went 13.63 at 283. at the rear wheels last year. Its all in the first 60 feet. I have seen 1.98 60 foot times with street tires on the GM. Cant wait to line up with you!

Thanks you are definitly making me anxious! On a G-tech with a soft walked out launch I was pulling 5.3 0-60 times which according to most magazines is good for a high 13 second 1/4 time. Launching off the convertor just made me spin like crazy and I was pulling 5.8 and 6.0 0-60 times.
I think off the convertor on a good launch would put my 0-60 into the high 4's. which would definitly give me a reason to be wearing a helmet.

The drag strips have a lot more bite than the street so you should be able to launch harder. We should have a drag racing 101 before we go to the track for those of you who have not done this before. There will be a lot of guys there who will be able to help prepare the new guys in advance.

The only mistakes you can make is sleeping at the light and stopping before the end of the 1/4.
Other then that, A/C and O/D off, Hold your left foot on the brake and give it enough throttle with your right foot just before the point that the rear tires are going to spin, leave on the last yellow and keep your foot in it til you cross the finish line.
Keeping it in between the lines is all you have to worry about once you are on a roll.

The last hour of the event is a PINKS style 3 out of 5 drag race.
Im sure nobody would complain with you getting runs in.

OK, just to be sure, the following is the format?

First: a dial in run for handicap, both N/A and P/A classes.

Followed by:
N/A class eliminations until a winner, Trophy awards.
Power adder eliminations until a winner, Trophy awards.
(Pat = N/A and P/A classes)

Last event:
Pinks style 3 out of 5 just for fun.
No trophies.

At present, there eleven cars are entered.

That's about right. Elmer has not approved the Pinks style format yet. At worst we will have Non Trophy racing in the last hour. To add a level of difficulty we could change to a Pro Tree.

I'm one to mind how many times I go down the strip. With dial in runs, eliminations, running in both classes, I can run a little as three times or as many as six, without doing a grudge match(s).

So a pinks style 3 out of 5 as mentioned in the previous post may be a bit much for those who climb the eliminations ladder.

I would rather see no dial in runs, just in-class eliminations. Follow this up with single pass grudge races in the last hour or so.

With sixteen entries, don't know the split between classes since the eleven entrants were posted, things should go pretty quick.

We could always add a top three power adder and N/A shootout to determine who were the top Guns at MVV.

I got the final word from Elmer the track owner.

Insurance at an NHRA Track does not allow me or anyone to be forward of the starting line on the track, Pinks has an insurance policy that I can not afford

We can still run same grudge races but they will be timed with a hand drop. For those who want to run with the big dogs we could add a Pro Tree.

Pops

Merc we should use the tree and negotiate or just use what we want for the dial ins. The Pro tree is a great equlizer if you cant practice in advance. That one has beat me before. We will use whatever you decide on.

Pat

Motorhead;

DOT does not mean it's OK. It has to be SNELL95 or 2005 something like that and the label is accessable by pulling back the insert in the helmet.

The box may also indicate the Snell rating. However, I don't think anyone is going to really give a big hoot. If so then we can pass around my old WWII helmet. Ha. Of course it's German Vermacht.
