Guess who got back from the car dealer

without a car.... The guy selling it wouldnt go under 19100 dollars, and thats way overpriced for this car, as its not as perfect as it appeared. There were about 5 touch up paint spots, one bad scrape mark also touched up, and alota scratches. But the weird part, the right side is clean. The left side is all scratched up. Yet the right side also had that impact so it was repainted.

So lets go over the goods and bads of this car.


Good's

Driven by an 84yr old man

Interior was clean

No rust

No big dents

Wheels were mint

plenty of tire thread

Engine is clean for 24k miles

oil is clean

sounds great

drives great

plenty of power

Ac is cold, heater is hot, seats not torn, everything mechanical works.


Bad's

PLENTY of scratches

one bad carved in scratch in the left rear

rear bumper is warped underneath

The lights are weird looking, like they are fogged over, but they arent. I cant figure it out, in the rain i didnt see it, but today i can see it, looks like you clearcoated it and its fading off. I guess its fading plastic look then.

Theres a scrape mark by the left fog light, in that little hole the light sits in


Theres a white mark, small one, on the rear brake light, right one

and the last i can think of, some funky smell inside, but i think it was a cleaner they used because the seats were slick.

Were going to talk to him in a few days again, i just dont like the ammount of scratches on it, how much would it cost to replace the rear bumper and repaint the whole car? Any estimations?

Definitly a few thousand dollars. Its something like $700 just for the rear bumper cover.

Looks like it has sheetmetal damage under the rear fascia by the looks of the picture of the passenger side rear. A good paint job will cost a small fortune if the whole car needs to be gone over.

1. Get the Vin # to RoyLPita here on the board--He will tell ya whats the deal on it--

2. Next --Realize that an old man most likely sc***** the bushes next to where he lived or at his house often--forget about it--

3. It's a 5 year old car--no on is gonna warrant its used paint body--forget about it--move on--

4. After Roy tells you the vin history--decide--I think now I would lean towards buying--but tell him 18000--was there a mileage given?--don't recall--no matter--18 and tell him you have cash--(CU bank draft-maybe)--wishful thinking-----keep him guessing--he has you doing it--it is only fair play--he doesn't have to know if your real about your check in your pocket -

Seems like a nice car--However --for 15 K you can get Zacks --That looks more appealing---check it out-Tom-

Maybe it's just the angle of the picture and the light, but from just behind the rear wheel to about halfway down the rear fascia looks looks like it's been pushed in.

Could of had a slight bump on the side of car, behind the bumper cover is metal strips that attatch to the bumper cover and then bolt to the side of car (in trunk, behind the carpet 1/4 panels) if they get bent, they can be replaced. It's not too hard just a pain the the azz.

Hey my wife drives it when I'm not around so it just had to look good, although shes careful with it, its a grocery getter but 19,100 is high. Keep watching here and buy a nice one when someones ready. I,m in NJ too so if something pops up between here and there I will check and advise. Forget this clown and move on. Officer him 17,500 and walk away, he'll call you back..

There is a DTR with 30k at dodge of Paramus for 19,900, figure you can knock em down to 18 and change.. Looks great..

Listen to me, I had luck using autotrader, carfax (get one month) and other on line searches, I found my black 04 in Eatontown and paid 18.5 and they couldnt have been nicer. They wanted 20.5 for the car and I told them I had another on the hook, that was back in March. Just be patient, be willing to travel and dont seem too eager. There are plenty out there for decent prices, just be patient.

Pictures always look better than the actual car. Once I went to look at a DTR Crown Vic Sport. The pictures looked great. The car in person however looked as if it was driven through a chain link fence....repeatedly!

After the rear end of my Marauder was wrecked and replaced the rear lower quarter panels (behind rear wheels) dip in just like the photo...both sides...
