When I stop or back up, somewhere up front. A pop or bang when I stop hard, or when I back up fast (sudden). Thoughts? Thanks, knine.

I looked at everything, nothing obvious, alls tight and no signs of wear. I know my CV pops, creaks and moans a lot, typical F.O.R.D. I ihad the tire shop guys look too, didn't see anything yet.

I had this happen twice on two different vehicles, it was a caliper both times. One I had to replace, the other I changed the front pads and bled the brakes and it fixed it. Are your brake pads wearing differently?

could be your shocks ( if you hear the pop on the inside of the car)

there is a body pad on the drivers side near the firewall. May have become dislocated.
This happened on my '03 cvpi. Took the tech a while to find but once he did and buttoned it back in proper form, all was well.

I had an alignment shop fail to tighten a control arm to spec, and the bushing moving around popped when going from reverse/forward.

If it is more like a series of pops it's the water from your ac hitting the hot exhaust. It seems to happen when stoping.

It's a loud bang, more like a control arm banging noise, will have it back in the air tomorrow to take another looksee.

If the control arm bolt for camber adjustment is not tightened to 165-170 ft lbs, the aluminum won't pinch in enough to retain the bushing. I had an alignment shop tighten the bolt as tight as they could get it using an open end wrench (maybe 80 ft lbs if the guy was really really strong?) and it would pop loudly like I said. It also threw the alignment off quickly. You could just torque them w/ a torque wrench, get the front end up on ramps, then drive and see if it goes away. If so, you need another alignment, this time somewhere that will use a torque wrench. It looks like the aluminum subframe is not forgiving of being under tightened.

I have had the same popping metal on metal sound.
When i had my right rear axle seal changed at the dealer i asked them to look for the noise. They said it was coming from my overly worn rear brakes.
I told them not to touch my brakes because i had KVR's on order.
I have installed new brakes, had an alignment done and sprayed WD40 on each body mount and control arm mount one at a time hoping to isolate the noise.
Someone had posted at one time that we suffer from frame cracks near the control arm mounts, I don't think it is that, however i think it is coming from near this location.
Good luck

It took a friend so I could get out and listen, but it's definitly coming from the left rear tire area. Looking deeper 2morrow, rack was busy at the tire shop.

That is the same place my noise is coming from

I have a creaking when coming to a stop or pulling away. It seems to be drivers side rear. I have had it on the lift twice and so far nothing obvious.

One ZILLION dollars to the guy who figures it out. (Martyo is paying).

Unrelated I just changed me rear fluid to MOBIL 1 synthetic.

have the drives side pad at the firewall checked. That turned out to be the problem with mine.
