Hey gang,

Just got back from a fun-filled weekend chasing my uncles Corvette ZO6 through North Country roads. I was with the misses, so we kept it to 110. Still, a LOT of fun. I passed EVERYTHING he could pass, and we had a lot of fun on all those awesome sweeping corners.
I pulled up beside him, and and floored it at 70. It downshifted briefly, flashed 6200 RPM, upshifted and he just went by me like I was tied to a tree. Man, those cars are SO fast. Just unbelievable...

Question: I need a tuneup, and wanted to know what parts are involved? Spark plugs, wires we don't have (right?), PCV valve? I already did the air/oil filter and oil a couple weeks ago. I just need spark plugs and PCV? Anything I'm missing? Thanks, and happy rauding!

An XCal2 will enable a precision tune.

The points, condensor and dwell angle won't affect the performance so no need to replace/adj.

For a tuneup you should inspect the coil connectors/boots, replace the spark plugs with properly gapped plugs (always check them), replace fuel filter, check/clean or replace air filter, spray electrical contact cleaner on the maf, unplug negative battery cable, replace PCV, remove IAC and spray inside with Throttle Body cleaner then reinstall, spray inside of plenum/TB with the TB cleaner but don't get it on the TB blade, go inside for 20 minutes, put battery cable back on, take for nice test drive to relearn computer settings then you should be good to go and running good as new.

Mind you this is a very comprehensive list showing what I do.... it's more than is necessary but I would recommend it all. Some may say to leave your IAC alone and to NOT USE the TB cleaner... if you so wish then do it that way. Definately reset computer, clean MAF, replace PCV and plugs though. Air filter and fuel filter are always a must as well.

Thanks for the ideas! You inspired me!!! I'm going to try it out. But, 1st, what the heck is an IAC? Also, why shouldn't I get the TB cleaner on the TB blade? That sounds counter intuitive, as well as difficult... It should soak for 20 minutes before I run it, right? Thanks djbruce,
