I just got back from a big annual car show in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Of course I took the Marauder. It was looking good after a couple hours of detailing last night...even the engine bay was spotless. I got to the show area at 9am, looking for a nice spot to back into to watch the cars. Basically they back cars into angled parking spaces on both sides of the main drag in the downtown area, leaving the center 2 lanes of the road open for cars to cruise. I didnt realize the car show took precidence for parking spaces. So rather than pay $5 to park a mile away, where no one would see the sweetness of the Marauder, I opted to pay $12 bucks to join the car show and get a prime spot on the strip for the car cruise following the show. Now, since I only signed up to get a good spot for the cruise, was I ever shocked to find out that the judges picked my Marauder as the winner and best in its class!! I am the proud owner of a winning Marauder in the following class:
1980 to PRESENT STOCK MUSCLECAR CLASS
At least thats what the Plaque says....
And during the cruise, dozens of people were all over the car. I cant get over the appeal this car has with people. People of all ages and backgrounds. Mostly the guys in their 20's and 30's knew exactly what the Marauder is, others had a clue, but asked a bunch of questions. If you guys get the chance to sign up for a cruise or car show...DO IT. It was great talking to people. This was a big show, and I met two people that worked at the St. Thomas plant and were bragging to anyone that walked by that THEY built this beast! Then I met an engineer that worked on the computer setup in the car, a guy that designed the interior door panels, the old guy that worked for mercury that helped design the wiring harness, and an engine builder from the nearby Romeo Engine Plant, all of them hung out around the car and were proud to say they helped do something on it.
What a day! Just think...there are about 2 dozen good sized cruises and car shows in south east michigan in the next 3 months.....mmmmmmmmm where will I put all those plaques?!
