I have a local company now building High Amp Alternators, the cost is 350.00.00 PS and I do not need a core, these are 14 V 200 Amp alternators they require increasing the out put lead gage to the battery and also adding additional grounds on both terminals. I will offer this kit along with the alternator.
I will install one of these in my car and post the pictures. As you can see below the field winding diameter on the alternator on the left are much larger than the one on the right, these are totally custom built units with all new parts and carry a 1 year warranty. As shown these to not have the clutch pulley but it can easily be added from your OEM unit if you prefer.

I already have a HO alt on my marauder. Ive noticed that the stock idle is not enough to keep it at 14 volts (when stepping on the brake, turning on the headlights etc)... When at idle or park (about 750-800 rpm) is where it seems to have the 14 volt idle. So i guess, my question is will the stock clutch pulley help with this issue?

Nope, but I run 900 RPM idle in drive for this very reason.

would some under drive pulley's help everything spin a little faster?

Um, 'under'drive means slower. That's actually part of the problem.

ahh ok..sorry about all the questions. Im a bit of a mechanical n00b. I am aware that it needs to spin faster.

A smaller pulley will spin faster vice a larger one ... place a quarter and a dime in front of you on the table as these represent pulleys...from the visual you can see that the dime "pulley" will rotate faster then the "quarter" pulley. Hope this helps you out ...

I was told today that the company building these have waved a core charge, so you can keep your OEM alternator.

You simply take it off and install on the other alternator

Dennis,
A couple of questions...
1. Is it possible to overcharge the battery with a high amp alternator?
2. At idle, will the output be higher than the OEM alternator, or does it's high output only happen at a higher RPM?
3. Is the warranty through your business or through your vendor?
4. Is the warranty pro-rated or is it a full replacement?

[quote=ts-pa;523676]Dennis,
A couple of questions...
1. Is it possible to overcharge the battery with a high amp alternator?
Not if it is working properly the normal charge rate is 13.2 Volts to 14.8 Volts
2. At idle, will the output be higher than the OEM alternator, or does it's high output only happen at a higher RPM?
This Alternator will charge at a higher out oput which is what I want and other for that need
3. Is the warranty through your business or through your vendor?
It will be through me Via the Vindor
4. Is the warranty pro-rated or is it a full replacement?
Yes, as all electrical parts are one year from the date of purchase, and its replacment only, does not include labor or shipping.
