Hello Future Fellow Marauders, (My First post!) I am a newbie that has saved my pretty penny...and convinced my wife, that I can now get my toy and I can't wait...but i need help from you pros..I would like to get a marauder, but between what mileage range should I look at before saying yes/no? I would like to put a Trilogy, 4.10 gears, and a full kooks set when I get it. I live in Florida, recently moved from Michigan and looking to purchase soon...any advice to help with the reccomendations on mileage, customizing, etc.?

Welcome :welcome1: to the MM.Net.
I would think that the "average" mileage on an '03 MM would be in the 75K or less range and an '04 MM about 60K or less using a gauge of approximately 15K per year. Some are driven more and some are used alot less if garaged or only used for part of the year (i.e. parked in the winter). Check KBB.com to see what they say for the typical mileage and go from there.
If you really want a Marauder and it is in very good shape and well taken care of .... just do it !!! :D

I set my car up with, a Trilogy and 4:10's, rear suspension mods. and upgraded to oem size brakes. I did not do the exhaust, nor, am I trying to talk you out of it. Like was mentioned, 12-15 K per year, is average for a daily driver. I am sure if you are patient, you will find , what you want. I recommend 2004 as well, course I drive one, It's at 52K mi. Welcome to the machine! You are in, the most heavily populated, Marauder area! Especially, FI'ed Marauders! Good luck on your quest!

I would say that the lower mileage the better..However after your mods and new axles and brakes and so forth..you are replacing most of the wear parts anyway.. Your biggest concern will be fuel because you will always have your pedal to the metal... so to speak....

I would be more concerned about maintenence, than mileage. I put my Trilogy kit on at 30K mi. I purchased the Marauder new @ 63 mi. But several have gone higher.

I agree with Bradley. Our cars love to romp. A very low mileage car might not have been exercised on a regular basis. Things deteriorate from lack of use and a watchful eye. My 2003 300A MM had her Trilogy put on at 32K and I've had 20K very happy romps with her in the last 2 years.

Blues are faster!
:lol:
But seriously folks.... my 03 has about 44000 on it now, and nearly all my central FL cohorts use their MMs for weekend only "play" cars.. ..I have high mileage by their standards... But they ain't selling, either...
I would buy one from a loving owner, regardless of mileage, that has been forced to sell due to family or financial issues. Shoes for the Marauder or the new baby..that's a difficult choice, isn't it? :D

I just couldn't stop myself.

Whats the difference between a regular MM and a DTR? DTR is a color only offered in 2004
MM = Mercury Marauder
DTR = Dark Toreador Red MM
DBP = Dark Blue Pearl MM only offered in 2003
SB = Silver Birch MM
And of course the Black MM

I would look for really low miles, personally, if I were going to supercharge. There are still a lot of 03's even out there w/ low miles (mine hasn't quite turned 27k miles yet). I see them on ebay and listed locally under 40k miles, which is what I'd shoot for. The less miles the better.

I just bought an '03 with 24k on the clock. My old '03 recently sold (for more money) with 51k on her, so look around. Welcome aboard!
