I came across these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8x-Round-Car-Underbody-Under-Car-Neon-LED-Light-White_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcatego ryZ33713QQihZ009QQitemZ1901370 96492QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
I was thinking of mounting them along the angled part towards the front of the hood where the hood liner ends. At that angle they would shine straight down onto the engine. I could run the wires under the hoodliner and they mount with double sided tape so there would be no holes if I ever decided to remove them. I would propably just use a small sealed switch to turn them on. Thoughts?

Too "ricey" for me. I can see just fine with my single bulb. I can also probably replace my bulb with a nice bright L.E.D.

Breadfan has a nice set-up with twin flourescent bulbs and an in-line switch. Very nice and good lighting too.

This mod cost me $10. Been there a good year or so, still workin' great and there are various mount points for the inverter, plus you can get inventive with the switch.

I noticed this light set-up during the MV-V car show. Its a very neat installation but it was too bright out to see how it looked lit up.

Your not worried about breaking a tube when the hood goes down hard?

They are probly white neon.

I've tried a few different things with DS adhesive under the hood. Temp changes and moisture make for a short lived install. Good luck.

Hasn't happened yet. I will admit I too wasn't sure how well they'd hold up, but so far 1 year later they're still workin'.

I look forward to seeing them. Are you doing LED's?

LED's would be less obtrusive under the hood, you could hide 'em pretty well until it's "go time". :D

Yes, surface mount LED.

Cold cathode tubes would probably work well too.

I disagree. My marauder emblems are held onto my coil covers with 3m VHB auto grade tape. Over a year now. No issues even here in Florida.

My '85 Bronco had one, and the retractor actually worked. :D. They are kind of large though.
