Do marauders need premium fuel to run? I remember reading this in a review awhile back but is it true? If so that really cuts my chances of ever getting one of the beauties...

I think the owners manual says 91 or better? I could be wrong. Why would premium gas be a deterrant to buying one of the coolest cars ever made? :D
Sorry, just noticed you're 16. Best of luck to you.

Haha, yeah being 16 kinda hurts my love for cars, 91 octane really kills my small budget... lol

Look at it this way...ignore the suggestion in the manual, which is required for the tune provided on the stock MM...use cheap 87 octane...pound on the car a few times, get detonation, blow something up internally.
It's a risk most of us do not take to save $3 on a tank of gas.;)

^^^No i know I was just curious if they say it needs high grade fuel in the manual or anything like that. Trust me if i could afford high grade gas i would put it into every car i ever drive... How much does gas cost by you cruz?

Lately 94 is 2.90 or less. $43 to fill the tank. I feel the pain as well.;)

Feel the pain???? Its $3.35 and better for 93 octane here in NY. I go for about $60 to fill the tank and even that doesn't always fill it.
Ill tell you about pain.

^^^I was just curious if they say it needs high grade fuel in the manualThe manual specifies that the Marauder requires a minimum of 91 octane.
if i could afford high grade gas i would put it into every car i ever drive...That would be a mistake. Higher-octane fuel will NOT make a car run better, or get better mileage, if the car is designed and tuned to run on regular octane.

Hey guys...$3.90 in Hawaii for 92*...Can you FEEL my pain? Luckily...I did NOT get this car to save on gas! I don't even look at the pump to see how much it costs me...Just stick my card in ...fill up...put the fuel cap on...close the fuel door...and stomp on it again...Life is short...cost of gas does not matter...

n00bkiller944,
I ran two tanks of Regular in my Marauder just after Hurricane Ivan because that was all I could get. (It was three days before I could even get that.) But, I putted around like granny with that gas in there, too. I couldn't wait to get some Premium in my baby. I wouldn't recommend it for regular driving.

Booya! Fine bourbon, cuban cigars, and hundred octane. Life is indeed too short to skimp.

20 on road trips with the built motor...formerly 23. And 12 around town killing every ricer and primer colored 5.0 in site.;)

If the price of gas is a concern, get a Crown Vic Sport. They only require regular gas, 87 octane. It's the next best thing to owning a Marauder. CV Sports are still fairly quick, and handle pretty good too.

Do marauders need premium fuel to run?
They can run on kerosene; but only briefly and not quite 1,320 feet. ;)

At the price of gas their is no reason to shy away from a car because it uses premium fuel. You aren't actually saving that much money in the difference between premium and regular. D.C. (regular $2.89x19 gallons =$54.91)(premium $3.09x19 gallons =$58.71). Plus many people don't talk about the FACT that the higher octane gas gives better mileage. The lessor volitality of premium gas gives you a more complete burn; more economy, power(potential), less wear and tear on parts and less fill ups. The $3.80 saved on regular gas may not even be seen or exist. In my opinion you save when you buy premium.

With a performance tune and 4.10's I got 26mpg on a highway trip. With my S/C I can still get over 22mpg if I'm easy on it and highway driving, I'll get 16 or so in the city due to having to get around obstacles (Aka Toyota corollas), I could probably get 20 combined if I could keep my right foot tamer. :)

Hmm, I'm going to have to pitch this and see if i can get away with it with my parents, even though ill be the one paying for the gas they still care...

Yeah yeah :)
Those were more optimistic figures, like I said, I get that if I can avoid hot footing it, which really doesn't work too well in reality!
Speaking of that I need gas again tomorrow morning!

The best way to get good gas mileage is to park it. Driving is an experience that we all have to pay for. In this roller coaster called life nothin is free. So sneak in the back or pay up or GIVE ME your Marauder.

Do not cry too much.
It takes me here about 80 CDN (so more than 70 USD) to fill the MM's fuel tank with 94* .And about 70 CDN (read about 65 USD) to refill the MGM with 87*. I am refilling nearly every 4 days and I am actually looking, without any success so far, after an additional fuel tank...that would save a lot of my time over a year.

91 is cheaper than 93. Can you afford 91?
You could use a condensator, which will reduce engine knock, and or consider water injection. These mods may let you get away with 87.
You could also get an 87 octane tune, that pulls out more ignition timing, and runs the mixture a bit richer.
These devices/mods will take considerable time to payoff, with the small difference in price between 87 and 91. Is it worth it?
By the way, how can you afford a MM, but not the gas to put into it??? These cars ain't cheap, kid!
My MM used to get 300 miles per tank. Now with the tune and 4.10s I'm getting 15. Yikes!
But I LOVE driving it now. It's so worth the cost ;)

Don't think you meant 15 miles PER TANK, did you?? :P If you did, you should probably plug that 1/4 drain hole in the bottom.

With gas at $3 a gallon regular and $3.20 premium that is only 7 percent more...per gallon...so if your normal gas bill for a year is $2000, you are adding $140 per year in fuel cost...not hardly relevant...at less than $3 a week...it is the difference between one lunch at 99 or McDs...all in a car which listed at $35000 depreciation has eaten up $15000 already...which is more relevant... the interest on a loan is more than that....The the $140 is the cost of one detailing by a pro.. do it yourself and you can afford premium gas differential for a year..etc....
