Hey guys....had a blow out on my right rear tire the other day....( picked up a nail or something....went in to tread..then out the sidewall ).
ANYWAY....No tires are around ......BF Goodrich say's their back ordered...and I can probably get mine in November.
I luckily picked one up on ebay...there was 1 rear tire....used.....
The guy on the phone said he has more bad news....1st he said they won't be making any more ( discontinued )....but then he corrected himself and said he was mistaken about that....and they WILL continure to make them.
The guy might have no clue what he's doin...but that's where we're at.
I guess we better hold on to our tires when they go bald...which for me is every 10 months or so ; )
Anyone out there have 90,000 + miles on their Marauder? Just wonderin...I have some issues....I'm a NYC driver...so my car is a damn good example of what kind of severe beating a Marauder can take ; )

That ebay tire looked like it was majorly cupped in the center, and had very uneven wear (if this is the one from PA). I hope that is a temporary fix only. I looked at it the other day and was scared off by the pic. I bought a used Ebay rear tire for these cars and it had the same problem, 4-5/32 on the outside edges, 0 tread left in the middle. On our rims the center of the tire would not touch the road, mounted and inflated. The guy had one more that I didn't buy (luckily). You may have just gotten it.

They are Hankook Ventas RH06's. Hankook as has a Ventas AS RH07 that has a less agressive tread.

Jeff II's rears are bald in the center so he needs new tires. Dennis suggested the Hankooks also - they do look nice. Should I stick with the same size for the front that came on the car or can he go bigger? What size for the rear?
Thanks!!

I wonder why the stock 245/55s go bald in the center? Usually that either happens because of overinflation, or running a wide tire on too narrow a rim? The 8.5" wide rims are definitely not too narrow for 245s, so that is not it. I know some guys run 40 psi in their tires, that would probably wear the centers out first. Factory inflation is 32 psi, which is what I use regardless of people thinking the car handles better at higher pressures. But I have definitely seen these tires wearing in the center first, which is odd.

I think the tires were not made for a heavy car like the MM.

Wouldn't the manufacturer research this so people would be safe?

Of course. the only car those tires in that size was made for is the Marauder, it wasn't by accident.

Running these tires at 40 psi will not wear the tire in the center, it actually decreases wear in the center of the tire. I know, this is totally reversed to what we've all known about tire PSI, but our MM have rewritten many rules of thumb thoughts about automobiles. I actually ran my first set of rears at 32 psi like you for the same reason. I watched my tires melt away in a little over 6 months or so. My next set were at 38 psi and they lasted almost a year.

Well I know there is a big to do about the lack of tires from BFG. But we are able to change the rears to the upsize of 255/55-zr18. I sell tires for a living I do know a little about them. But if you are one of those that has to have what the manfacture put on your door nomenclature then your in luck I happen to know were 2 sets of fronts and 1 set of rears, used are. Just PM me and Ill give you the info, but if your one those crazy types that lives life oustide of the lines heres a link to, Z rated only, some tires that might get you through http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/filterTireProducts.do?rcz=7590 1&rc=TLFINT&cs=255&ar=55&rd=18&c=2&sw=false&rf=true&cf=false&fcb=*&fcpr=*&fcsr=ZR&fclr=*&x=26&y=17
If any ?s PM me I can help.

You could do what I did. Waiting on BFG to start making tires again for such a very limited demand size is...well, not practical. I'm so pleased with the Goodyear Responsedges 255/55 for the rear I'd rather wait for them to start making the more practically sized front tire which, last time I checked, isn't made yet. FYI, check the TireRack ratings for that tire, they are tops in nearly every segment - grip, wear, noise, etc.
