I ordered a set of resonator delete tips and I plan on welding them on as soon as they get here.

It seems like a lot of people here had them extended out a few inches from stock. Was this done for drone, appearance, or both?

Are these really, really obnoxious if installed in the stock location?

I don't want to extend them out and have the car sound completely stock inside, but at the same time I don't want it to be horrible.

Basically it needs to be a little louder inside and a lot louder outside.

Are you also changing mufflers? The guys at MVV with the delete tips moved them out to avoid the drone in the cabin.

^^^What Ray said, even though I did not extend mine outward and the drone is only bad at certain rpms.

Mine were extended out by the boys from Georgia, so you can read the "Megs" logo just at the bumper. Also got mandrel bent tailpipes at the same time.
You can hear them on You Tube, my user there is OsFanRich.

I too had my stock tips extended past the bumper by the Grand Georgia Boys Muffler. I had my entire exhaust done at the same time.... from "stem to stern".....

I'm leaving the rest of the exhaust stock. I just want to install these right the first time.

These are how mine look after extending slightly:

Click on the pics to make them bigger.

Still kinda subtle but slightly more noticeable. Appearance mod only in my case. I have stock exhaust with 14 inch magnaflows - no change in exhaust sound or drone after they were extended.

Thanks for the pics! I like the way they look. Been practicing my welding today. Can't wait!

Thanks. Tried to get several different angles. Took those a while back when someone else was considering it. Since you can do the welding yourself, I spose you can change them if you don't like the looks later. I really like the looks of the MM stock, so I tend to go quite understated on appearance mods. I have seen MMs with tips extended a good deal further than mine at meets, they don't look bad at all, just different.

Here is a few shots of mine extended out 1.5", enough to read Meg's. Plus it gives the rear some bling bling if their sticking out.

Hey as an alternative to directly welding them to your pipes, check out Haggis' bolt-on application. Neat stuff!

I left mine where the stock tips were. I do not like how they look extended. Drone? Who cares.

Ditto...they appear better ever so slightly pushed out.

Ok, I'm about to do my exaust, and I REALLY don't like the looks of them sticking out, so for those of you that have them, If I go with some Magnaflows is the drone bad enough on stock exaust that it should be delt with? And if so, will resinator (sp?) tips delete this? Sorry don't mean to highjack, just a question while we are on the topic......

I was at MVV and one of the 1st folks I met was FastMerc. I was admiring how nice his MM looked and didn't even notice the extended tips until he pointed them out to me. You don't have to stick them way out to lose the drone. I believe "1 will do it. I plan on having Magnaflows installed next spring and I will be keeping the factory tips. I have the cobra exhaust which makes the exhaust louder, I have no drone, therefor my belief that I still won't with the Magnaflows.

Interesting statement. I have noticed a drone/vibration at idle RPMs after installing the ProGuard. Seems to happen mostly in the morning after a cold start for the first 5-10 minutes of operation only. Less noticeable the rest of the day.

Mine were extended out, not by choice (the shop thought thats how I wanted them). I hated it at first, now I think it looks badass.

I has no drone... extended tips really helped.... (Thanks, again, TAF!!!) and the FatMat killed the rest.
