Excellent write up from magindat. Here's a pic of mine, and no, a "pro" did not do this for me.

I imagine you lose the steering wheel radio/volume controls when you install something like this? (I would never go to a bling bling LCD type thing but I could see wanting a better regular CD/stereo).
Isn't there some fancy kit available for some stereos, that interfaces with your steering wheel controls, and converts to a signal that the new aftermarket head unit can use?

The kit is not fancy and very straightforward and wiring is INCLUDED in the D2 install link above.
The LCD 'bling bling' is entertainment, music, DVD, navigation, bluetooth hands free telephone, satellite radio, backup camera, automatic insurance/roadside assistance info, cd changer controller, usb reader and I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting with add-on units. Get you facts before you criticize other for 'bling bling'.
Diabolical, PM for phone number and call me any time if you need help with install.

^^ Listen to him.
If you want to see, I have the AVIC-D3 in my car now. Needs some work with the front speakers, but an upgrade well worth the time.
It wasn't that tough an install.

I have Pioneer D1 in mine, most annoying part is getting unit to fit as far back as possible, as there is a ****load of connections and not much room back there. Too bad I don't have a pic will post one tomorrow.
