Was a '96 Impala SS, young punk kid and his g/f. Naturally he had dubs on it and looked so stupid. He pulled up next to me and gave me a look of disgust, so I dropped it down a gear, blew his ear drums out with my exhaust and gave him a chirp of my tires for an appetite. He looked impressed, he did the same afterwards, and I was not impressed at all since he didn't get his tires to chirp and exhaust was stock, but you could hear an intake. Did it from a dig to about 80 and I had him the whole way, then he said his car does better from a roll, so I said let's go for it. 40mph roll to 120 on an old backroad that's not traveled much, by the time his car figured out what gear to drop into, I was already a car length ahead of him and I saw no signs of him catching up to me. At the end, he was like, "Damn, I had no idea those were that fast, I don't like Ford stuff that much, but the Marauder is one car I'll always respect!" I said thanks and told him I'd see him around. Mark another SS kill in the books.

Go for it whoskal. I'm not bashing them in any way, just hate when they get cocky just because it says LT1 on the valve cover and 'Vette flags. I am careful when I race, I usually don't do that much on the open road anyway, but if someone challenges me, of course I have to go for it.

Remember also, that kill was at a gear disadvantage due to those rims (hence the 'rolling start' excuse). Not stealing thunder just saving others from possible embarrassment!

I had already said in no way am I bashing the SS, just happy I beat one. And yes, I'm sure those rims he had (looked to be 19's/20's) were heavy. It looked goofy awful though, I would have kept the stock rims.

I always thought those stock wheels looked too small, needed something a bit beefier, thats why I love our MM rims, stock 18, shiney...

Thanks lol I'm surprised you haven't run across one yet, especially since you live in NY and you would figure you'd see them there more often.

Why not just have 2? One for week days and one for weekends :P
Did you ever race my friends truck yet? I dont think you could beat him with his inline 6

LOL. I told you I'd give him a 5 car head start. The torque of that 4.9 is unbeatable though.

Good work. I've had mine since early June, and nobody wants to race me:bigcry:
It's depressing...
I tried getting a Magnum R/T to race me today, and he stayed in the slow lane, I tried a Charger R/T yesterday, he wouldn't go, either.
All the action must be outside of town???

I have killed them with the stock wheels....not going to make that big of a difference unless they are running 22's or higher.

one of my good freinds just bought a 96 impala ss yesterday...of course we had to find out what it was made of lol, my car is bone stock right now, and beat from a roll, but from a dig of course he walked away off the line. My personal opinion is that real races start from a dig but im just happy i pulled on him from a roll

If you had put your 4.10 gears in already, he wouldn't of beat you from a "dig"!

Well thats not nice. you will be modded, he will be stock. Either way, with the mods that you are putting in from your sig, he may still get the better of ya.

Excuse my ignorance here, but stock to stock can a MM take an SS?
I know they are rated at 260HP (proably a low rating) why would it not have more like 300HP LT1 vette or Camaro? Right now I'm bone stock and would like to know if I come across an SS will I embarass myself,or blow his doors off?

davidholland, comparing apples-to-apples, the SS has a 2V pushrod motor that makes more torque than the MM, and does so at a lower RPM, so since the cars are similar otherwise, a stock SS will normally take a stock MM from a dead stop. The 4V DOHC motor in the MM breathes better at higher RPM, so will either win or at least match an SS from a roll. In short, you won't embarass yourself, but he won't blow you away, either.

ive notice this question alot, the question of people being worried about losing...guys your not on the tv show pinks, jsut go out and if you come across one go ahead and find out...seems like people forget that there is ALWAYS something faster out there....if you lose or even get your ass handed to you so what hes faster than you...mod your car and try again later...in answer to your real question...from a dig hell pull on you a little but depending on how far you run you should be able to reel him back in a little bit but from a roll you should have him covered...as previously stated pushrod engines make more torque than a OHC (or DOHC in our case) but OHC engines breathe better up top and can generally rev higher(esp the DOHC)

The only time I've had my ass handed to me was with a BMW. I thought for sure I could smoke the German POS,little did I know it was an M3 with a 6spd. It looked innocent enough.

I took on a hopped up Audi S sumthin (wheels, tires, exhaust and surely under pressure) one day recently...he was pissed when i got through with him  I never understand why they get so upset...s'posed to be fun.
