I see some of you are replacing your axles with 31 spline. Whos axles are you using? I need to upgrade with the project that will start this winter and am trying to figure out if they will work in my GM. Thanks

Moser on a group buy with Greg at FIT.
I went with stock Crown Vic PI axles. Decent price and ready to bolt in with ABS rings installed.

I got Mosers from someone that participated in the GB but didn't install them. I also have a 31-spline POSI unit that I'm rebuilding.

Mosers, in the Group Buy. Also added the Auburn LSD. Is the Marauder axle the same as the GM, or is it a wider Town Car size? Seems like I heard that there was a difference....

The axles we're using are from Moser, but they only fit '03 and newer CV, GM, MM. (maybe TC also)
The earlier models have a narrower track width, hence the spacers necessary for using Marauder wheels on earlier models.
thanks as my questions have been taken care of. It looks like I may have to have a set made as the MM axles are longer.

I'll be narrowing my axle shortly and if they cannot reuse the Moser 31's I have in there they will be for sale. I should know in a week or two.
John
I am interested but need to check with the garage and see if I can use yours. The issue is the width is ditterent on the earlier cars. MINE IS A 95.

I don't think they will fit a 95. Sorry.
John
I want them John, and yes I like the color of your car.

No problem Zack. If they cannot respline these then you are first in line.

John, you can use 1995-1997 Town Car LIMO axle shafts, which are 31 spline. They are the same length are your current axles.
You will also need 31 spline bearings and seals, as well as a 31spline differential (or at least the side gears if using an open or Ford traction-lok)
Your axle housing may require machining to accept the larger 31 spline bearings/seals. If that's the case, try using 05+ panther 31 spline bearings and seals - the housing was not changed for 05 but the new bearings worked fine - so they must have the same o/d as the 28 spline bearings/seals.

Sorry to bring up an old post but does anyone have the part number for the Moser axles?
Thanks.

Steve, IIRC the Moser axles group buy was a "custom order" and Greg had to send them an ABS tone ring to make sure they would fit correctly. He even had them send me the first set to make sure they would fit properly for the rest of the guys in the GB because at the time I was ready to get them installed. I don't know if he reps them anymore, but if he's a no-go then I'd try calling Moser directly and explain the situation. Hopefully they kept the specs this time.

Thanks for the helpful guidance.
I'll give Greg and Moser a call tomorrow.
The wheel was replaced with another widened one yesterday with much help from MM.net member Josh, aka: #4.
We spun the passenger side rotor and there is definatley binding at different points of rotation. Also looking at it from the side, and with the use of a caliper gauge, you can tell that it is bent. We're speculating that it might be the axle hub.
Also like the seal is also leaking on the driver's side axle.
Hopefully, she'll be back on the road soon.

I suspected this was more carnage from the run-in with the curb. If the hit was strong enough to tweak the seal on the other side I wonder if there's any damage inside the differential case (i.e. carrier bearings, chipped gear). Did they pull of the girdle to take a look?

That's the next step. I'm looking for someone locally who does good work on the side to pull everything apart so I can assess the situation.

You might just be in luck! I am having my axle narrowed this week and will be ordering new ones. I will have a set of Moser 31 splined from the group buy available, tone rings included. I don't have antilocks anymore (too much weight and not enough PCM...
John
I used Moser to custom make axles for my car. It is not that expensive to have done. Thanks for the input guys.
