Close call

While cruising around town last week, I came to a red light and I noticed a police car at the light. I get the green light and proceed on as he has the red light. I figured he would be 3/4 mile behind me by the time his light turns green so I cruise between 40 and 48mph and the speed limit is 35mph. Before I knew it he was close behind me so I coasted down to the speed limit but it was too late. He pulled me over and said "I pulled you over because you were doing 48 in a 35mph zone. I hand him my drivers license and ins. then he says "I am not going to give you a speeding ticket." I immediately began to thank God! Long story short he said he has an 03' Marauder and he thought it was his! After he gave me a warning ticket (no consequences) we talked Marauder's. I have talked to atleast 4 Marauder owners and not one of them knows about this site. Needless to say I speak highly of Mercurymarauder.net as I did with this officer. He pulled up the website as were talking (they have onboard computers with internet in all their cruisers) and he was amazed. I told him about Roy L Pita and his oasis reports and all the different forums that could answer any question he might have, including the meaning of life! :) He should soon be a member and I am sure he will be welcomed!

Nah I wouldn't have written him a ticket even if he was in a chevy. I rarely write speeding tickets, since I (on occasion) speed. I can't be hipocritical can I? I had no idea that this site existed either. Great site by the way. And in all fairness I did think his car was mine until I got close enough to read the plate.....

What a great story! I've been pulled over several times just to have the officer ask me about my MM, the first time I freaked out cause I knew I was doing nothing wrong now it's like when I see a LEO I am just waiting to be pulled over lol. Welcome to the site Hacklemerc don't ever be afraid to ask any question even if it may sound stupid. Only stupid question is the one that is not asked. This site has saved me a lot of time, headache, money (not really, but buying mods don't count lol) and have had the pleasure of meeting and talking with some really great people.

Keep an eye out for our next big annual meet, nothing like seeing a huge group of such awesome cars all in one spot.

You have a lot of great reading ahead of you. I remmeber spending hours reading, once i found the site so much info in one place is awesome. Sort of discovering the internet all over again.

Surprised he wrote you a warning. Not that is bad...On my way from SW Florida heading up to ALabama this afternoon I saw two, yes two, silver birch FHP MARAUDERS on I-75. I was in my SVT Focus, going 78 MPH and one took off from the side of the road. I knew he wasn't going after me as a new black GTO went flying by me at around 110 mph and didn't even pay attention to the Marauder. I put my window down and it sounded so cool to hear that Marauder fly by me and pull over the GTO. The FHP Marauder's have more hidden strobes than you can imagine. The guy must have ***** his pants.:lol:. I had a smile on face until I reached Tallahassee.

Haha, on my way home this evening on the local mini 6 lane highway I was in the fast lane doing more than I should have been with some guy in a truck up my tail. So the middle lane became open and he proceeded to pass me, as I look over I notice it's a local county cop in uniform with his thump up in the air looking at me then he cruised on a head in front of me. Posted speed limit was 55mph, he had been behind me while I was doing 20+ over, I kinda didn't know what to make of it but oh well lol.
