I need some touch up for the rear bumper guard and need to be exact for the match. Is there a special touch up I should look for that has a match to our color black. My paint is clean off and it's white so I need this taken care of... right after I had it repainted. :mad2:

Take it back to them, and have the place that painted it re-do it

Earlier thread .... from November 2005

The paint code is located on the manufacturer's sticker on the drivers side door. It's located near the bottom _ EXT PNT - followed by two letters. That's the code. Don't have a DTR so I couldn't tell you but a Silver Birch is JP.

Silver Birch = JP
DTR = JL
Dark Blue Pearl = DX

Didn't see Black listed in the earlier thread; but the 2 letter code is on the door sticker.

Could the color of your black car be black? Is this a trick question? If not see below.

U can get the touch up bottles from the dealer. Open it before u leave the dealer to make sure the paint is fresh. My experience is it matches perfectly.

U may want to wait until u get the second scratch before bringing it to the shop.

just look on the door jamb for the paint code and go to the Dealer and get a bottle of it:)

Unfortunatly no one can paint the bumpers better than the factory.
Once a bumper has been painted and gets even a small damage the paint flakes.

It's on the rear bumper so I if can't see a poor filler job from 15 feet away I'll be happy.

It shouldn't if the proper flex agent was used.

It's just regular old black. Universal black auto paint will probably be a perfect match, but it's best to just get it from Ford using your paint code just in case ;)

All touch up Black paint is the 'Universal Black' type, even from Ford, unless you get the body shop to mix it.

Blacks can vary slightly, but it usually isn't that big of a deal.

I had a white spot on my bumper as well. Just went to Ford and got a universal black. It matched perfectly. If its a small scratch make sure there is hardly any paint on the brush....you don't want to glob it on.

The touch up from the dealer was about nine bucks and did as good of a job as I wanted it to. Thanks!

In Canada they sell the touch up paints at Canadian TIre. There must be a USA equivalent store.
