An oldie but a goodie!
Has anyone experienced noise upon installation of their 4.10 gears?
If so, does the noise go away with time?
If so, how long does it take for the noise to diminish?
Thanks,
MD

If you have noise now, you'll have the noise always. The gears were not installed properly. This is a good description of how gears should be setup.

Try adjusting your backlash.

Do the backlash as soon as possible before the gears start to wear. Its super easy if you have a dial indicator.

I am going to get it looked at asap.
The installer did put in fluid and friction modifier, right?

Would you all believe that the flange that the driveshaft connects to the rear diff. was WAY out of round??
That was the culprit.
Dennis and crew diagnosed and corrected same.
Drove 200 miles back home without a hitch/sound/vibration.
Go figure.
