Hello fellow Marauder owners. First post and new Marauder owner. What a car...and I'm excited about being an owner of this 03 black beauty. :) Now I plan on some mods and the first is the 2 XCali chip, Pulleys, then Heads. Is that the right sequence to get that much needed boost in torque? Anyway, thanks for the knowledge you bring to rookies like me.

Welcome to the site.

Like one of the previous posts said, go with bolt on mods before doing any internal work. Our intake & heads are designed very well. Any rework is very expensive and you won't see a good return on the money spent. Now if you going to build a motor that's a different story.

Welcome!

For mods, get a XCAL II from Alternative Auto as a starting point. The do some long range planning. What do you want the car to do and what is your budget?

Where in Michigan will you be living? Alternative Auto and Trilogy Motorsports are in the Detriot Metro area as are lots of other Marauders. Hook up with other owners, get rides/drives, learn the pros and cons of each mod!

Enjoy the ride!

I've gone to forums but never had the car so I didn't say anything. It feels great to own the car in which the forum is titled. You've answered so many of my questions and saved me a bunch of time and money. I'm about to order 2 Xcali right now. Thanks to all of you for the welcome and the advice...

WELCOME!!!!

Do bolt on before going into the motor.

Here's my recommended order:

3500 Precision Industries Stallion Torque Converter (-.5 sec)
SCT Xcal tune by Alternative Auto, Reinhart or Powersurge Performance (-.25 sec)
4.10-4.56 gears (-.25 sec)
CAI (-.10 sec)
Steeda UD pulleys (-.10)
Full SSW long tube mandrel 2.5" exhaust system ($$$)
Any one of these things are way better than the heads by themselves, either because they give more, or give less but with so little $$$ or effort by comparison.
After all these things, and others, like water pumps, spacer, egr delete, etc., then try taking the motor apart, if you aren't satisfied. Or, forget the heads, and just plunk a blower on it;)

^^^Well put!

As you can see I've been a member here for a little more than a year but don't have that many posts...mostly because most of my questions and curiosities are answered through site searches! The site is a tremendous wealth of information about anything Marauder related. There are so many people here who have already experienced everything you're about to experience, good and bad (hopefully nothing bad, I've never had trouble with mine [knock on wood]).

I have a Silver 2004 Daily Driver. No mods. But my planned chronological list of mods is as follows:
1) Tune
2) Gears (4.10)
3) TC

I'd do the gears first but it's much more handy to recalibrate the speedo if you already have tuner in-hand like an XCALII.

Enjoy!

Hey dere!:welcome1:

What part of God's country do you live in?

As for sequence of mods, I went with an X-Cal2 with a Reinhart tune, 4:10 gears, a PHP cold air intake and U/D pulleys and they really woke the car up.

Gotta agree with FBM, stay with bolt-ons for now, unless you're going with a built motor.
