This is the hardest post I have had to compose. Last Monday we were escorting President Bush who was in town for a fundraiser. We had delivered the President to his appointment and were returning to the Albuquerque airport when targedy struck. One of my co-workers entered a curve at a high speed on his police motor. We will never know the exact sequence of events, but Officer Casey lost control of his motor striking a tree. The impact took Officer Casey's life. I have posted this information to remind all the LEO's on this board to BE SAFE. (And indeed, all motorcycle riders.) Officer casey's death was the first in the hisotry of our department. (26 years) His death hit every member of our department hard. I wish nobody else has to deal with the emotional cost that this last week has taken on all those involved.

Officer Casey is survived by a wife and two children. (14 & 17 years of age)

Please read the attched if you want to make a donation to his family.

As many of you already know, the Department of Public Safety and the city suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of Officer Germaine Casey on August 27, 2007.

The outpouring of support and sympathy for his family has been overwhelming. A donation fund has been established for the Casey Family. Donations can be made payable to the “The Casey Family Memorial Fund” and sent to:

US New Mexico Federal Credit Union
P.O. Box 129
Albuquerque, NM 87103

Thanks and god bless.

As a former LEO and soldier, I say "At ease, brother. You stand relieved. You fought the good fight, ran the race and kept the faith."

Prayers to the family.

Officer Casey, rest at ease. We've got your watch.

All other LEOs, watch your 6! 2007 is NOT being very LEO friendly.
