View Full Version : Is a bent rim okay?

I have an old bent factory rim that I was saving to put a 18 inch racing tire onto and it was a problem when I did 90mph (steering wheel would shake), but that was when the wheel was on the front. I wanna put this one on the rear with a BF Goodrich drag radial next summer. Do you think having a slightly bent rim in the rear will be a problem? I might widen this rim also if it'll work. I want to use this rim just for driving to the track and back.

Any idea? :help:

No it is not ok to use! Get a good one Dom. Vibrations create drive line stress and thats what causes failure.

^^^what Zack said^^^ :)

Just when I was about to give you a pat on the back for fixing your overheating and your stumbling (vacuum line), you go and say something like this... :shake:

You said you wanted to put a drag radial on it, but then you say you'll only use it for driving to and from the track. If that's ALL you want to do, then go for it. If, however, you intend to use it AT the track, then NO; that has disaster written all over it.

^^^ yes it should be able to be straightened. Stock Marauder wheels are worth the effort to do this.

Agreed +alot. If it was troublesome on the STREET it's going to be dangerious on the TRACK as is.

Killjoy got a point. You would need 2 wheels anyway at the back to make it worthwhile to race in balance. ! :)
