Don't ya just love it when a company discontinues a product that will inevitably fail years down the road.

I learned today that ALL of us whom bought the first runs of complete KOOKS headers will now have to modify their exhaust to replace the cats they once offered.

The preformed cats with flanges are no longer being made. To us, this means that a cat replacement is no longer an 'at home in 30 minutes' replacement.

Now one needs a welder and pipes and god knows what else to mount to our flanged headers, and hope everything still fits correctly.

I am so thoroughly pissed at these folks. Which explains why they sent me a plain cat with no pipes and just holes at either end. How the hell am I supposed to pit that in place of my full one piece bolt on unit?

Blah....KROOKS.

Thats we call them here in NY. Quality and service went down the tubes with that place and they are way overpriced.

An exhaust shop can install it with ease.
Bring a case of beer to a local shop and Im sure they will have you squared away.

Not so much as fine print but an ability to read between the lines.

Well...timing was an issue, and timing costs money.

I had two days to solve this problem, both of which my new DM was in town doing reorganization and sneaking out was impossible.

I used the cat KROOKS sent me. Labor at the local muffler shop was $92.50, and they made it fit. It's chopped in, looks like crap, but they did a fine job working with what they had.

Long story short, I immediately noticed a drastic fuel MPG increase on the highway. A bit of power restored as well. See, the day I took it in, no more rattle. The inside honeycomb had managed to turn sideways and wedge on the out hole.

Story closed. ;)
