Went to No PRoblem tonite for the MOPAR-Ford-Chevy Cajun Nat'l Series. First time since I ran the mid-nite madness 6-2-07.

The temps were 95* & 85% humidty.

Advertised gates open 4:00pm & Time Trials 5:00pm. I get there @3:55pm and the place is packed w/ Time Trials running! HAHAHA, next time I get there @3:00pm.

Change out to the MT ET Street put in race gas and head for the tech @5:10pm. Tech tells me pull up to run a TT since I missed the first TT for my class.

Red lite w/ -.038 / 1.835 / 12.831 @ 106.47. The guy in the next lane red lited w/ -.018 / /10.641 @ 124.65.

Next TT againest a Mustang. MY .097 to his .208, then 1.855 to his 1.923. MY ET 12.879 @106.04 to his 12.984 @105.74.

Then the rain came. Then the mosquitos, killed 7 in my car. I rolled down the window w/ the lite on to figure out my Dial In.

My Dial In is 12.83. I line up againest an El Camino. His Dial In is 12.26. I concentrate on the 3rd yellow. I do a good short burn out. Line up with the dark sticky parts of the track right under my seat. Edge up to the first set of staging lites. Wait for the El Camino to do the same. Then I barely lite up the second staging lites so I can really hammer it on the green.

I tune out everything but the 3rd lite. I count with the cadence as each lite lites and nail it on the third lite. I sense him behind me, he crosses less than 1/3 car length in front. I hit the radio and hear Marauder 12.751. I think I lost for breaking out, but I get the white time slip. I won.

The El Camino redlited -.048 to my .164.

The reason for the break out the temp due to the rain dropped 10*. I write the temp on each time slip to help me change the Dial In.

On to round 2. In the staging lanes I see Frank, his ride is an 11.5 Z28. He was the track Champion of 2003 and 2006. I beat him in 2004 in the finals and took home the trophy.

HE wishes me luck and we pull up to the staging lanes. We discuss our Dial Ins, my 12.7 to his 11.55.

A drag bike thru up on the track in my lane. Frank says I do not see u much any more. I reply last time was June. He is starting the psyc-ops on me. Thats how I beat him in 2004. He came over then to tell me the great R/T times the guy in the RX8 ran. I told him my 2 best R/T times that nite, what he did not know was I had gotten a lot of TT passes that nite. He was so focused on my start he forgot to look at his own lites!

I focus on the 3rd yellow, but I am worried about a red lite. I give it a soft nail. We are 4 car lengths from the finish. I can feel him running me down. We are 1 car length from the finnish and dead even the last car length and he creeps ahead. I can't tell who won.

I get the yellow slip so I lost by .0396! My R/T was .211 to his .082. My ET was 12.745 to my Dial In of 12.70. His ET was 11.685 to his Dial In of 11.55.

I remember when I beat him in 2004 he came over and congratulated me. I found him this time to congratulate him. HE was watching the other cars near the finnish line. HE has had the Camaro Z28 since 1995. HE is rated #1 for a FBody N/A on an OEM short block.

What is interesting is he said some things about me that I know I did not tell him or anyonelse at the track. HE also talked about the track owner. I used to compete in another sport with the track owner wife and her ex. I think Frank did some recon on me when I beat him in 2004.

The MT ET Street performed beautifully. 26 PSI, hooked great and very little whobble.

On the way home the odometer turned 90,000 miles!

The Marauder has been the most versatle vehicle I have owned. She is a drag racer, comfortable sunday afternoon driver, bring the children to school, mobile office lap top and printer, slept in her over dozen nites, after Katrina waived thru police blockades and a show car.:D

Great post Billy. Love reading anything in detail about drag racing. Quite surprised on how high a pressure you run on your M/T Et streets. I ran mine (only twice) at 16 pounds and really could have gone down to 14. Obviously the high temps and humidity affected your et and probably 60 foots.

But you are right on with your Marauder and I agree with you 100%. Gotta love these cars.

I ran 25 psi in June, spun once due to poor burn out and set up.

They lost air so Friday nite I pumped them up to 30 so I would just have to let air out at the track. When mounting to MM them they did not look rite. I let the air out to 26psi where they looked ok. Never spun so kept them there.

Barley noticed a whobble. Most people would not have noticed.

In cooler-dryer air the psi will drop. I noticed less than 25psi and a big whobble. I will prob need to go with tubes and screws.

Your 60 foots were the same as mine when I ran here in Florida at a TNT in the late srping with the same temps and humidity. I ran 18 psi on the first run and 16 psi on the second. The track was terrible with more than 250 cars running and no track prep. I am use to some wobble as I use to run wrinkle walls on a race car I had. The M/T's were sticky after the run as I could hear the sand sticking to them on the return road. I was dissapointed with the 1.8's, but after talking to several friends of mine at the track, everyone was off .02 - .03 with sixty foots which made me feel better.

I am hoping that the cool temps in Atlanta at SSHS7 this Novmber will get me to 1.6 sixty foots maybe even better. We'll see:rolleyes:.

Should be if they can keep the track dry and sticky. I ran a 1.69 60' ***H6S, but spun out further down the track.

I wonder if condensation coming out the exhaust was putting water on the track?

I am hoping for good track conditions, cool weather and with no condensation anywhere on the track.
