Speed Control Deactivation Switch, I guess the component can leak under the hook and create a fire...:flamer:

Not an issue on 1998+ panthers, the speed control redundant deactivation switch was moved to the brake pedal box/assembly.
All 1992-1997 panthers w/ cruise are effected, though. These models used a pressure sensing switch mounted to the master cylinder.

the switch itself leaks, it is located in diferent areas on diferent vehicles, some have it in the brake lines near the frame below the booster, some have it under the right front fender, and some as previously stated have it built into the master cylinder. The recall on the cars it applies to merely has you disconnect the switch and tape up both ends. This is because Ford has yet to come out with an appropriate jumper harness for the cars, why i am not sure as the harnesses used on explorers rangers expeditions navigators, etc, will fit the cars but ford tells dealers not to use these harnesses on cars. hope this helps as it may save you a trip to the dealer. I use electrical tape and tape up the end of the connector and the switch to prevent corrosion.
