Shifts getting softer?

Ok gang, need some input if anyone's experienced this before and what it lead to down the road...
The past few days I've noticed the 1-2 and 2-3 shift being quite a bit softer than usual when under part throttle. WOT is a bit softer it seems, haven't really pushed it, don't want to break anything.
I haven't done anything too crazy lately in it. During a hot spell a couple weeks ago the trans did get up around 195-210 on the gauge I have on the line going from the trans to the cooler. Just drove it nice till I got home and all seemed fine till just lately.
The car is pretty much stock, just a canned Superchips tune to bump up shift firmness and shift speed.
The fluid is still nice and pink, doesn't smell burned at all, just smells like trans fluid. No metal shavings in it either.
It does have 128k on the clock, but 80% of those miles were highway miles from the previous owner who was fanatic about maintenance.
I haven't done anything with the fluid in the past 20k or so, dropping the pan is on the agenda for this weekend.
I just need this damn thing to hold together through winter. By that point I should have the new motor ready to go in with the turbo and will have the trans done up then.
It's not soft like grandma's Town Car, it'd pass just fine for a stock MM shift, just lost some of the snap.
I'd thought about doing part of the J-mod but if there's an internal seal getting weak and letting pressure bleed off maybe that would just make it worse?
Anyone have any input other than a change in fluid as to what I could do to help this out or what could be causing this?
Not a trans person here at all. My involvement in them in my toys consists of pulling them out and dropping them off at my tranny guy's place so any input is appreciated!

Dude, my shifts suck to start with. I'm doing everything I can to get this thing to bark on the 1-2. Mine has 105K. Mine DID have shavings on the magnet. And the guy who changed the fluid 2 weeks ago said he cleaned it.

It was definitely my first service, and the shaving looked to me like 105,000 miles worth, so I'm thinking he just cheated me.

I don't know what to say. If you're having a turbo motor installed and a new tranny in the spring, gee whiz, I don't think I'd even be thinking about it. The car has miles on it. Maybe someone else has better advice, though.

Yeah, I wouldn't be worried about it but this thing's my d/d and I don't want to get into November/December and have to be yanking the trans out if there's something that can be pointed at right now to do a quick fix to tide it over until the rest of things come together.
Either way, next spring/summer it'll be getting a fresh motor and trans, it's just getting there that worries me with this sudden degratation in shift quality.
Is your car any better since you had the fluid changed?

That'd be WAY too easy.

The car simply RAN better after changing the fluid. It seemed livlier, freer, something. But the shift quality DID NOT improve at all. Sorry...

Well you CAN try to re-flash/re-program your car..Maybe,.. doubt it though some how across the line the ecm re-learned something else...Worth a shot just to re install the tune in the car and try it...it's free

Correct me if I am wrong guys, but maybe his computer has learned his "granny" driving habits of late. Maybe try disconnecting the battery for half an hour to force it to relearn new habits?

+++1. I'd have to slightly agree. Either that or the trans is overheating, IMHO

Thought I'd update this, dropped the pan and changed some fluid out. Didn't change much. Sometimes the car shifts crisp, sometimes it just shifts well. There's no real rhyme or reason to when/where it does it. Hot/cold car or air temps, light or moderate throttle, just seems to vary time to time.
I know the trans isn't hot, nor has it been super hot since I've owned it as I installed a gauge in it about 3 weeks after buying it.
I'm just going to chalk it up to things getting worn and not sweat it further unless it gets more frequent.
