I just wanted to know has anyone ever used LED lights in the tailight housing. How difficult is it and are there any pics. Plus this would look great with S-55 lenses.

The only led lights I have thought about using in the rears were these.

The fold to allow you to insert them and good to go. I have seen them on some Dodge and Ford trucks, look nice.

If you replace the stock incandescents with LEDs you'll also have to add 4 resisters, one for each bulb as the LED's have almost no resistance and the LCM will think the bulba are blown and you'll have very fast blinking turn signals. I did the S55 treatment to the lenses, added 2 more sockets per side and used LED's in the new sockets so the LCM still "sees" the same resistance. Try bulbs from this company: http://www.superbriteleds.com/ See the 3 Watt Luxeon 3156/3157 bulbs, there are expensive but very very bright. If you want more info let me know. I changed all my interior & exterior bulbs to LEDs (except the head, fog & instrument bulbs). Also see "Notes Concerning Conversion to LED Car bulbs" on their website... good info on what bulbs & what color to buy.

cool, but 100 for bulbs is nuts. Go to a truck stop! I will swing by the I-80 truck stop, I know they have LED bulbs there.

Probably what needs to be done is an aftermarket set up where the bucket is modified for something like 60-100 LEDs for ample lighting. The problem is, LEDs have a very narrow light beam vs the incandescent which is very wide.

That's a pretty neat design. When my finances improve, I might gamble on one and do a comparison to stock. I already like the big bright brake lights the MM has, don't want to dim them in any way.

There are W I D E beam LED's available.

It seems to be as simple as adding a 4.5ohm resistor. soldering the LED's to the wiring and making sure the LED's can stay in place after spirited driving.
