me and my dog did it ourselves!

took 2 hours (including 2 trips to store for hex bit sockets,

used a little more than 2 qts plus friction additive

used the gasket it came with, plus some silicone to be safe.

no leaks!

Benefits: when you push gas pedal to floor = 100% confidence

Darebren where did you order the SVO gridle? Do you have a cost and part number?

Thanks!

www.summitracing.com has them for $174 shipped - the stud kit was $35. www.taperformance.com makes them for Ford SVO. they have them for $159 and the stud kit for 19.95. i went with summitracing because i wanted "SVO" on the rear and ford to install with warranty since it is a ford spec part.

Summit's online catalog list this girdle as "not available". However, Jegs does and it's cheaper...

Watch for line wrap on the above link.

i just noticed in the picture, my dog might have been drinking the old gear lube in the drain tub  it seems like something she'd do

To all who install a rear cover...
Make sure you DO NOT use the upper fill plug on the new cover to install the gear oil!!! You are to use the original fill plug located on the front side of the differential. If anyone has used the fill plug on the cover, start draining!!! Just a heads up for everyone.

See the flat part that has "SVO" engraved in it? What are the dimensions of that spot?

And the girdle is aluminum, yes? Could it be polished nice and bright like?

There's a overflow tube on the axle tube. If pressure builds up due to overfilling, it'll expunge the extra fluid out the overflow and make a mess of your undercarriage... Go on... Ask me how I know... :)

Err, the girdle holds the differential splitting the torque from the driveshaft to the wheels right? Fore and aft motion to starboard port kind of change? Just checkin...
