Rear wheel torque and grip (meaning tires) are what's going to make axles go snap. I can only remember Martyo and Paul's (Paul's High Performance) car having this problem. Most people understand the concept of hardening the rear. You know, wielded tubes, Upgraded Limited Slip, Gears, Bearings, and Axles.

I've seen 3 2004 MMs with axles snapping near the carrier. One of them is a member here with a Trilogy. The other 2 I saw in the OASIS reports.

The "Pro Marauder" guys like Marty & Jerry really should be using 9" Ford rear ends with appropriate axles. I have never seen any of them break.

I agree! Will you buy me one?

Oh, and stop comparing Jerry's car with mine. His is not as fast as mine.

I only swapped to 31's because I had to replace the stock 28's along with the ring gear and carrier anyway due to wear issues...

If you are paying for the attorney then I assume you get final approval on the next one including the prenep?

I have daughters and much of what I do is to keep the bar high and let it be known not only will he have to deal with the atty I pay for but also me at no charge!:gunfire:

Speaking of welded axles, how many people have welded their axle tubes at the carrier. Is it really necessary with a SC or just insurance? Comments?

Glenn:

It is all insurance, but I believe it is necessary in a high HP application.

It was done very early on in my carand I am glad.

One of the local MN guys, MROGERC, snapped an axle in his 2004. I am pretty sure there was a thread.
