Is the inside of your tailpipe that is. Noticed that mine has stayed the color of the metal ever since i've had the car (two years 8 months) resonated and res deletes tips. In the past this usually meant you were running lean. While at MV V noticed every M i looked at the inside of pipes was black.
I have a DR base tune, K&N, PHP intake spacer, UDP's, currently Aero Turbine mufflers and res delete tips rest of exhaust is stock. Have also run OEM, Flow Delta 40s and 18" Magnas inside pipe has not changed.

Any thoughts, suggestions, opinions, experience welcome.

Thanks,

cruzer

At 83,000 miles, the inside of my tailpipes are bright and shiny--never even run a rag inside to clean them . Had a DR flash at MVI at about 4,000 miles. Have drag raced in 90 degree temps and cruised at 85 in 110 degrees--never had ANY pinging--just smooth power. Engine temp runs in normal range at all temps---all spark plugs look alike at 75,000----I won't change anything. Maury

Thanks cruzer, good to hear.
This is the first car i've had with such a clean tail pipe, after so many miles.

I changed to 180 stat and 1 range colder plugs at about 28xxx. Had the oem plugs out twice at 10xxx and about 20xxx and there was no discoloration what so ever on them, looked just like they came out of the box. Haven't checked the new ones yet
No hot running temps despite the 100+ degree days here. Did appear to ping a bit while in Maryland but attributed a bit of that to gas purchased at the caverns. No issues with that since.

The inside of my pipes are black, I have a strong tune in my car and that may be the reason, sometimes at WOT I notice a little black smoke blast out the pipes.

Thanks,
Just went over 45,000 miles with my MM. The inside of my tips are metallic but not shiny/polished. Looks to have a lite greyish film coating. If I run my finger inside, it is a very light soot coating. You must have missed looking at my azz end at MV5.

Please do not ask questions like this at 10:46 PM at night ..... everything looks black at that time. ;)

i'm with Charlie, mine are a dull silver, like a film is on it...not black. might be that gas that your running too. try running fuel additive.

Same here. My Blue just turned over 33K, inside of the pipes are a dull silver, had the same thing on my DTR when it got wrecked with about 30K on it.

I had mine painted black with ten coats of hand rubbed circassian lacquer after I bought it. They get clayed and detailed every week!:D

I was told we have pretty good gas here in St. Louis (only run Shell and BP) predominantly Shell at 93. Maybe that Vpower gas does keep everything shiny clean. hmmmm.

Does not seem to pose any ill affects and there seems to be varying degrees. Just like our tire air pressure, conflicts with what i've read.

What tune is everyone running and exhaust configuration?

According to your garage, you have roughly the same mods as me engine wise with the exception of the throttle body and CAI. Stock TB and K&N for me. You're running Cherry's and i'm running Aero mufflers. Difference is definately in the tune.

I think mine is little freer breathing than when i got my first semi stock tune. Looks like a little tweaking may be in order.

Thanks,

I use Sunoco 93 Ultimate almost exclusively. Occasionally, like in Hagerstown, I'll get Exxon.

No worries, in the quest for unique, you might be one of those not particularly crazy about chrome. Color matched tailpipes would indeed be "unique"

Next project, hmmmmmm....................... ............j/k :nono:
