View Full Version : Report: J-MOD slows first gear engagement. Yuk.

I wanted to start a new thread on this aspect of the J-MOD, which I have never heard reported before.

I noticed this: when I shift into first, it engages later. This can be really annoying, and takes time to get used to. It could cause a minor fender bender, too, if you're not prepared for it.

I was rolling backward, and put it into first, but I kept rolling! I had to hit my brake, so I wouldn't cause an accident, then it engaged first. It's definitely delayed from pre-J-MOD.

Has ANYONE else noticed anything like this? Also, I really don't notice any different in the speed that it engages reverse after opening #10 further. If it's faster, it's negligible.

When you say first, Are you selecting "D" on the shifter and its slow to engage or are you actually putting it in "1"?? I havent noticed any delay of any sort and I have had this mod for over two years now.

Good question. When I go from 'R' to 'D' there is a noticeable delay after the J-MOD (at least on my car???) Thanks for the input.

It was a result of the work I did. It didn't do it before, so I'm thinking it has little to do with mileage.

Hi Sailsman,

I think you are right. I hope I'm the only lucky one;) I'm getting used to it...

Something isn't right because that should never happen. The opposite should actually.

I did the Jmod a couple months ago and nothing but good to report

You might not have gotten everything buttoned up as is should be...

My 2 cents
