My 2oo4 marauder has never been able to spin the tires from a dead stop. Yes I 'am sure I could if I power braked it or nailed it on a wet surface but that wouldn't mean squat. For a 300hp at the fly wheel and torque # the car says it has one would think you could smoke the tires. I have 4:10 gears & a reinhart tune. I do understand the only mod that might bump up the ponies would be the tune. Am I the only one that owns a slug ? Is it that necessary that I would need to ad a torque converter with a higher stall ? Better yet a twin screw to pack the little 281ci ? Looking for the problem and a fix without the converter or blower. Does my little power plant have a mechanical problem ?

That's our reality...

That is what I was asking myself...After installing 4:10's, Lidio tune, and a JLT CAI...I expected it to spin the tires with just hard throttle...No luck...If I 'am correct...a higher stall TC will get me there...

If this is true...Having a '04 puts you closer to spining the tires, as you have a higher stall TC...

Disappointed...but still having fun...

maybe we should try race fuel.

Y'all are about right, if you want to spin the tires with limited mods such as gears & tune you need a torque converter.

Race fuel "alone" will not help...unless you get a tune for the higher octane level...Then let 'em rip...

My brother was able to slip the tires a few time from mashing the pedal, dry ground in all spots. O/D off and T/C off

Yeah, when the road is smooth as in parking lot...I can spin 'em...Just not "at will"...That's what I'm going for...

Before my convertor I was barely able to get a chirp from the tires on a WOT launch. Its the nature of the beast.

These small displacement motors and computer controled ignition systems are not ideal for low-end torque needed for tire=spinning action your looking for.
The power is made at higher RPMs and with the help of the 4 valve head design.
You can get less-sticky tires, or maybe take out the limited slip diff (just kidding!)

Looks like a 3000 PI Converter is in my future...

If you had put in a 3500 stall converter as your 1st mod, you would of roasted them tires without the 4:10 gears or tune! :burn:

Watch for some guys changing to the Twin screw set up. You will be wondering how you can get the tires, to keep from spinning.
