View Full Version : Finally a brake test for the 03+ panther's
Folks, here is information that many of us have been wanting on for brake pad selection on 03+ panthers. I know that many of you who own 03+ panthers have not replaced their oem pads yet because they have shown a very long service life. My 03 sport has 60K on them and they are still in great shape. But any way here is the link: http://www.hendonpub.com/resources/articlearchive/details.aspx?ID=4018 (http://www.hendonpub.com/resources/articlearchive/details.aspx?ID=4018)
The trouble with the testing here is that the sample selection (of brake components) is so small----they do not even consider the many types/brands of braking components (i.e., pads, rotors, brake lines) on the market because one of their most important buying criteria is PRICE. It's great that OEM performs well against one or two other relatively low-cost brands, but how do they all perform against all available brands on the open market?
On the 02 and back panthers, Performance Friction was the pad and rotor of choice. MSP did a test back in 2001 on various brake pads, here is the link to that test, but don't use that test to select pads for you 03+ panther because the braking systems are different:
