Hello all,...M307 here again with some words of intellectual musing....
Once again, I found myself thinking on the road home from work today (reference my thread on Miscellaneous Musings on a Marauder), and I wondered: Does the stealthy look of this car help it, or (god forbid) hurt it?
This as I dodged yet another bald-faced attempt by the STL PD to set up a speed trap on I-55 south, in the South City area. They're getting worse around here...anyone comin' thru, stay offa I-270, they're thick as flies down this way...They like to put a lone officer on foot with the gun on an overpass, and the "catchers" will line up on the side of the interstate and wait for a signal. I've watched the ricer crowd get hammered while I, with my roaring duals and Florida vanity plate (probably not a good idea in Missouri) slide right by.
Those of you who read the aforementioned post have seen the story of the first night I had with my car.:coolman: Since then, I've somehow managed to Forrest Gump and/or Vin Diesel my way past at least a dozen or so identifiable speedtraps. Now, I'm a Coast Guard reservist. I deal in law enforcement myself. But the flow of traffic around here moves at no less than 75 (a good 15 mph above posted limit), and I've nearly been run over by a number of these redneck types who think a jacked-up truck entitles them to own the @$!@#$!! road...Imagine their surprise when a massive black shape jumps in front of 'em and EATS THEIR FREAKIN' LUNCH!!!
But I digress.:cool4: The question is: Do you, dear reader, think we as Marauder owners tend to get away with it more often due to our looks?
Or does it hurt us? Every week it seems I read another depressing post about a Marauder going down "in the line of duty". Last week it was Fourth Horseman. My condolences...I sincerely hope for you that it all works out to the good in the end. I myself have been the object of unwanted attention from other people while in their vehicles. Over this last weekend, I nearly took a sideswipe from an onlooker who was obviously googling at The Black Hulk. He actually had the nerve to look upset as I "saluted" him and hurriedly drove away. I think he was entertaining ideas about my exhaust pipes...don't think I need to say anymore... I've lost track of the number of people who've followed me home...almost got into an unintended race with a '70 Monte Carlo yesterday. He tracked me all the way from Butler Hill Rd. to the entrance to my apartments (a good 5 miles).
Hard to hide it when you're as legendarily notorious as our black/blue/silver beauties, I guess. But please folks...show us a little respect. Makes us nervous when you try to hook yourself to our rear bumpers at speed, 'k? We understand,...we like our cars too! But not so close. Unless we're at a show...and then you better be a leggy redhead of generous proportions...LOL. :censor:
Anyway, done with my rant for today. "Monster Garage" is on.
I just figured I'd throw this out there for your consideration.
Thank you, thank you very much...uhuhuh.
