Took my car in a few days ago to get the A/C fixed because it just blew air... not cold air. Turns out the compressor wasn't getting any power so it was fixed. Now when I start it up the air only blows on the windshild unless I toy with it for a second. I press the vent and nothing, press auto and still nothing.... just the windshild. I can get it to work if I turn it completely off and press vent followed by auto. This is just when I start the car for the first time all day. The rest of the day it's fine. Is something loose?

The only hard part is finding an o-ring that size. I used one that was a little larger and it worked for a few weeks but now it's back doing the same thing.

If it sealed when it went together, the problem is more likely the O-ring material, rather than the size.
The commonly-available Buna-N O-rings are not heat resistant enough for this job. I believe the
factory used Viton.
A bag of 100 Silicone O-rings will be in my possession shortly..

You got that right.
I've never seen an MM with such problems...... must be the driver.

Definitely if I could get my EATC replaced with a new one for $50, I'd jump on it. But it seems
most of us are no longer covered by any warranty, and Ford wants more than 10x that price
over the counter. The required O-rings can be had for ~US$5.60 for a bag of 100. Or if you talk
nice, a PM might score you some... :)

Man, I'm glad all these "missed opportunities from Ford" are popping up, that way I can have them check all these little things when it goes in for warranty work.
