That looks like a 1969 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II Dan Gurney Special.
You can read about it here:

That's a nice piece of muscle car history

Looks like a late 60s Mercury Cyclone to me.

Its a real Cale Yarlborough 69 Cyclone Spoiler. The "II's" had the sloped off front end, this one has the more stock looking front end. He picked it up over the weekend and drove it 600 miles to get it back to Texas so its in pretty good shape. I looked it over, no rust, has had a repaint but still has the original motor (390) and is pretty low miles too. Maybe this will inspire me to break the GTO out of mothballs!

That is the car that inspired my 'stripes'!!!!
69 Gurney Cyclone.
Gurney and Yarborough specials were that packages that 'replaced' the deleted Marauder package on the newer, smaller Cylclone when Parklane and Monterey were abandoned.

Actually, that is a Cale Yarborough model. The Gurney has blue trim. There is a Spoiler II somewhere in this area. I saw him on the track at Cresson.
Way cool!!

Very cool- I just ordered a Danbury Mint 1/24 replica of that car-tell your brother in law that it's available as a high-end model, Vortex. (about $120)

Ill let him know, thanks. Most models of this car are the Cyclone II with the Talladega front end but the regular Cyclone Spoiler won alot races for the Wood Bros. Id like to have that Danbury 67 GTO but $120 is alot for that!
