It is time for new shocks at 42000 miles. I don't want oem replacement I never liked them they just didn't seem to be fully designed for our carto choppy. What I would like to try are some HD bilstin shocks. I had them on my 1997 grand marq and loved them. I know they don't make them for our car. If they are the same length at full compression and full extension wouldn't they work ? open for ideas.:beatnik:

I know when I was replacing mine, Napa had some CVPI/Taxi HD shocks that seemed impressive. No reason they shouldn't work, huh? Doesn't CVPI cross ref to ours back there?
I used Monroe Gas Matic, which are pretty o.k.

How about the Naake's? Too pricey?

I'm using the Monroe HD up front with cut springs and sensatrac out back. I've been very happy with the setup.

I have Naakes QA1's in the rear. Adjustable for the street and track. I love them.

Me too, and they provide additional clearance for widened rims and tires.

Haven't replace my front ones yet, which I will be doing soon. Did replace the rears with the Monroe Sensa-Trac and have worked well so far (10k+ miles on them).

UNfortunately, our choices are severely Limited. I have been selling quite a few of the Sensa Tracs and the Heavy Duty CVPI Application for the Marauders. I sure with Bilstein would come out with an application!
FWIW, our OE Shocks are made by Tokico.

Thought about the Naake's to pricey over kill for my application. Not interested in haveing to stop the car get out crawl under the car to adjust my shocks tell the ricer BMW or whatever to wait while I adjust my shocks before we race unless the supplier suplies the adjuster. The adjuster must be 5'8" blond 110lbs.ect. The monroe gas matic offer great ride and response but break down to fast. Never tryed the HD monroe's. What are other choices are aval to us? In a shock I want comfort. I want the tires to stay planted to the road under routine and aggressive driveing conditions. Great response and rebound with out the harshness or need of a kidney belt. Help keep the car level and consistant shock performance under all temps. Not to mention garrenteed for life. Did I miss anything.

:banana2: Maybe if our members showed enough interest Bilstein could accomadate us ?

Called bilstein talked with keith I asked what it would take to build a shock for the Marauder. He said we have had many requests from the public. He would need a order for 1000 shocks and it would take about a year.

Mike, I haven't heard good about KYB. I do like the Monroe's I got from Dennis. BTW, I cut my springs one turn. That may make a difference.

Mike I had KYB shocks on my last 97 Mercury grand Marquis paid big money but hated them I needed a kidney belt. After two months I took them off and gave them away. They ride almost like oem shocks just a little stiffer or harder.

Yes and no, same style - different stock number. Those are for the GM.
I'll give 'em a try for the front replacement and see how they work.
If I don't like them then I'll just go with Monroes later.
