Nope, i backed it up closer to the curb since some soccer mom almost took off my mirror in her pacifica, and it ran fine, better than ever. I shed about 2 grams of weight to!

Those assembly line rubber bands keep assemblies from flying around when the car is being put together, sometimes you see them hanging all over the place...most of the time, the rubber duckies have eaten them by delivery.

offroadkarter,
Do you not realize by now that you have severely devalued your MM by cutting off the rubber bands? Those were genuine FORD assembly line connectors. Without them, people in the know will KNOW that you do not have an all original MM!
Just kiddin' of course! I've removed several sets off my cars!
BTW, there IS ONE mod you may need to do to protect your wiring harness -- cut a short piece of 3/8" gas line hose and place it over a sharp edge just left of center under the hood near the firewall -- follow the wiring harness and you should find it. BTW, if you are just finding the rubber bands, then you need to do this mod IMMEDIATELY.
Enjoy your car!

It ought to be great fun for the restorers 20 years from now to replicate those rubber bands. It WON'T be original without them!

offroadkarter,
I don't have digital pics to upload for you. When you have time, in the bright sunshine, open hood and look left of the power brake booster and and you should see the 1" thick wiring harness. There is a metal lip on a support bracket that sticks out and can chafe the wiring -- that lip is what needs covering with a split piece of gas or heater hose.

OFK,

Ooooooooooooooh, that was a big mistake, only the ultra-rare 300C models came equipped with engine bands. Of the six or so produced, all were produced in '04, and,all were DTRs except for 1 SB.

Had one myself, didn't realize how rare it was until after I wrecked the car.

Managed to salvage the rubber band before the car was junked, and tried installing it on my Blue, but couldn't get it to work properly, apparently some sort of interface problem.

No. But you can get some really nice quality aftermarket ones from places like "office Depot". They come in "mass quantity" bags, so you can share with all your friends here !! :)

Group Buy on authentic reproduction bands. If we can get 100 people to preorder they will only be 29.95 each.
Nice job on breaking your power band. The stock shift point from 1st to 2nd will now be even more crappy.

I just looked up the replacement, they changed the parts ID on it several times but the list is $72.04, my guess is you can get it from someone here for about 60 bucks, check with one of the vendors on the main page. They are on back order though so dont expect one anytime soon..
