If I'm correct, those are some kinda winter snow tires.

yeah studded 18 inch.

I have however been reading up on them and have to wonder if they are Marauder able. Appears you can't accellerate fast or change lanes turn fast until they have been driven/setup.

Maybe I need to keep looking.

Why go 18's when 16 inch rims and tires are more plentiful and less pricey?

4 18" tires cost less than

4 16" tires and 4 16" rims.

Although I could be wrong. I will price them out this coming week, after the holiday this monday.

Is it a holiday in the USA this monday?

Yes, Columbus Day. Are planning on running the OEM wheel in the winter?

I've used the non-studded ones on my old t-bird, and did they ever work good. You shouldn't have a problem getting around in winter with those.

That is just it, The first idea was to use 16'sin winter and my 18's in Summer. But summer is only 3 or 4 months long. I perfer the look of alloy wheels to steels too. Now I can understand that winter can be hard on Alloys, if you drive alot. But I don't drive that much, a bit more than 5000 miles a year. Most of that in the summer. I will be making a couple trips this winter but won't be driving too often.

Now I could spend a $1000 on 16 wheels and tires, or I could spend $800 on just 18" tires. I still will need new 18" tires this summer, on the back.

Now should I get just Studded tires for the back wheels? I have done a bit of research on this and everyone else says get studded all the way around.

I really think I should get studded tires as we tend to have alot of black ice around here and snow tires just don't cut it when you hit that unseen black ice. I also have a fairly steep driveway and it ices up alot.

These Hakkapeliitta 5's appear to be good tires for dry roads, even with studs, snow and ice. I can get them in the right size for 18" tires but not for 16" tires.

Any thoughts?

You may want to check this package out. It's a little cheaper than the tires you are looking at. Just put in MGM. They come with painted wheels and you can even check out how they will look on the car.
